I currently have an 08 f150 xcab FX4. Red, two tone, leather seats flow through console with floor shifter. I am thinking about trading it in for an 09 f150 x-cab xlt, 5.4, sync, chrome package, the truck has many more features than whats on my 08. Whats everyones opinion, good idea or not, should i wait? My biggest complain about my 08 is the lack of power in the 5.4 and gas mileage. Although, i heard the 09's arent much better in both compartments.

I would say that if your only reason for upgrading is more power you would be disappointed. I had 06 a 4x4 5.4 SCREW Lariat with 3.73s and an Edge Programmer and my 09 is the exact same set up in a FX4 without a programmer and I think my 06' was faster. If you want more power spend $300 on a programmer and skip taking a beating on your trade.

well of course the 06 was faster...it had a tune on it. But when the tuner comes out for the 09 set up it will be fast than the 06 with a tuner.

You could always wait until a bigger engine is tucked into a new truck if power is what you are craving. The 5.4 in the '09 is more responsive and better in fuel economy but it's not going to make your heartbeat pound faster.

If you're not sold on a new '09, keep driving your '08 and wait until the bigger engine arrives in the trucks.

I think a test drive might answer your question. It answered mine.

The 09 is greatly improved over the previous generation (I had an 05), but if you will be taking a hit on the 08; I would wait for the next generation engines.

Not enough power to make a trade unless you tow a lot or such. The GM 6.2 and auto six is the fast truck right now. 410hp...
