Stowable Bed Extender

Does anyone know if the stowable bed extender is the same part number between the F250 and the F150. If so, then I can get the bed extender from the F250 accessories catalog. If not, I guess I will have to wait until it shows up in the F150 accessories catalog.

it is definately not the same, I had the same question and was told they are different. I found a 250 extender on ebay and when I asked if they were the same they said no but had a 150 one they could sell me since they were a dealer. I didnt see a part number, but you could start there to see if you have any luck. Most times they are certified ford dealers selling extra parts on ebay.

How much did you pay for it?

I would like to kow how much they were asking as well. I have called dealers and been quoted close to $800 for the stowable yet the F250 kit can be had for around $300 if I remmber correctly. The reason for the high price is that you have to buy the right side and the left side seperately and they are $380 a piece.

I would buy one today if it was packaged and priced like the F250.

It makes no sense. When I was truck shopping it wasn't a common option on dealer lots. I would think there is a lot of people that would buy on.

Seems F is leaving money on the table

I did get it for $350 total, but when he was getting ready to pack it up, he dropped one side and it broke, so he ordered a new side for me. He did mention how he lost out on this deal since the sides were in the ballpark of $350 each side. The original extender I was buying was a "Pull" from a new truck on their lot. The extender is very convinient and invaluable to me....especially at $350...now for $7-800, not so sure....

The F-250 stowable bed extender is $365 from my local Ford dealer but I was told by the parts manager it took about a year after it was introduced for it to become available as a separately ordered part.

An update:

I just checked the accessories on the Ford web site. They now have listed a "black bed extender", which is how they describe the one for the super duty. No picture, and no real description.
Part number 9L3Z-99286A40-C

Been on the phone about this since the reply went up with the new part number. Apparently it is the stowable. If you go to www.fordaccessoriesstore.com and look in the Tech section you can find the instruction manual for the part and its definitely the stowable. Suggested retail is $365. So glad this is finally out and at a reasonable price. I used my bed extender a lot on my 2002 F150 and will use this one a lot on my 2009.

When you go on Fordvehicles.com and do the "Build and Price" deal, the stowable bed extender shows as a $195 add on...

So, when I was talking to the accessory guy at the dealership, I mentioned the extender... his first comment was that they are on backorder indefinetely, and secondly that they run around $600. So I had to ask how in the heck it's only a $195 add on on the Ford website... he didn't have an answer.

I can only guess that as a factory installed option that's all they charge, but if you get it after the fact, it's 3X the price? Doesn't make sense...

Curious....would the '04-'08 style bed extender work in the '09? I actually liked the bed extender on my '05 better - was easier to use and stronger (not too mention much better looking than the black plastic '09). With my '09 extender the rubber "feet" keep coming off! I don't use my truck everyday to haul bed sized objects and rarely had to remove the extender - but I use the smaller space inside the bed extender (in the forward position) all the time. All you would have to do is compare an '08 with the '09 as far as the locating holes, etc. Next time I'm at my brother's house, I'll check it out - he has an '05 as well.

Yeah the rubber "feet" that keep coming off is a PIA! You would think Ford could have designed that better. It's only a matter of time before I loose mine forever.

Does anyone know the part number for those rubber "feet"??

After a recent camping trip I found some rubber piece in the bed...sat on it for a few days trying to figure out what it was for and eventually threw it out. Now I have to check the bed extender to see if that is where it came from. Wouldn't this be a warranty item? Bumper to bumper, right? If they are breaking off...i'm just sayin.
