Sync Denied!!!!

So, I ordered my truck on Apr 15th... last week (the 29th), i decided to add sync to my build. The dealer sent the ammendment request via computer to FMC... they came back this week with a notice stating the ammendment is denied, the build specifications are locked in!!!!

Well, guess no Sync for me. Dealer said that there's a cutoff for the manufacturer to order the necessary parts (no wait inventory) and i missed it... truck's not even built yet and I can't make any changes. Bummer.

Good news is that my tentative delivery date is June 1st. I asked what the build date was and the dealer said he wasn't sure, but it's usually 10 days prior to delivery. I did the math, that makes my build date on friday May 22nd.. I'm getting a Friday Truck!!! Hopefully they don't rush that thing off the line!

You can either call the Ford customer service and they will put you onto someone higher up who will call you back or you could ask your dealer for the area reps number. Most dealers will tell you they dont have his number but thats a lie. They just dont like you complaing to the reps about stuff.

The problem may be that there are some suppliers who have long ago stopped building/supplying parts for the 2009 and have moved on to the 2010 parts. There are only a limited number of parts available this close to the end of the model year and those parts are already committed to other builds.
That would be my guess. You can try and raise a big stink but don't be surprised if the change doesn't happen this late in the year.

I would be surprised if they couldn't change it. There must be one sync left out there, and it should have your name on it.

Well, called ford canada today, they are opening a file for me. I explained how this was my first ford and that I didn't want to have any regrets with my purchase! I also explained that it was my fault for not asking for sync right off the bat, but that I had discussed the feature with some fine folks (f150online) and that I now deem it a necessity for my truck... so we'll see!

Hope it all works out for you. My truck came with sync in the package and I was like...."big deal". I've had the truck three weeks now and have 350 miles on it and already I love the sync. Easy to set up and easier to use.

Well, my call to FORD canada was a big waste... i gave all the details to the c.s. agent and waited all friday for a call back, then monday, tuesday morning. Not one to wait around, I called her back tuesday afternoon. I ended up dealing with someone else as the orig agent was busy... Felt like I had to go through the whole deal with him. Says he's gotta put me on hold to call the dealership.

Comes back to tell me that Ford Canada supports the dealers and he's sure that the dealer did everything they could to get sync in the truck. He rehashed everything the dealer told me 2 weeks ago. and mentioned that the dealer offered to have a hands free calling system (parrot) installed at my cost.

I asked if anybody even called the factory to try to get it added after the order was locked in... he said they don't have the numbers or a contact for the "factory", and that once locked in, no changes can be made (again, what my dealer told me)

I'm feeling a little underwhelmed by the Ford Canada Support. As far as I'm concerned, they didn't do anything at all. There was no costumer service, and very little compassion. That being said, no sync... which I guess i'm alright with. Maybe i'll get a GPS with Bluetooth or something like that.

Not a good first experince with FORD Canada.

I would refuse delivery and find another truck or order a 2010. I just got a rebate letter as a Ford member and it has a coupon for another 750 cash back, 0 for 60 and the assurance payment plan on any new 08-10 Ford vehicle. The rebates are still great. Don't compromise on a new vehicle you are ordering...

Everything I saw on the lot had Sync in it...

Bingo!! Same here - just tell your dealer to change your current order to one for his inventory and order you another one....not like your current order will be the last '09 he's going to order...if he doesn't want to help you get exactly what you want, go order from another dealer...

Honestly, I'm surprised your dealer (knowing how much you want Synch - and it IS worth it) hasn't already suggested that he just commit your ordered truck to his inventory and order you another one...this isn't rocket science - just taking care of a customer, i.e., common sense - if he wants your buisness.

Just tell them you are going to cancel the order and they will do what they can about that sync. They will prob contact the rep and get him to contact the factory to change the order. The customer service have the same old bulls*** auto replys about complaints. Either go see your dealer or we cant do anything about that as we dont have contact with that deparment.
