oh so close...very pissed at dealer

Went in to sign a deal tonight on a new fx4. I had been in a week ago and came close on a Lariate 4*4. At the time they offered me 19k for my trade. I sent the dealer an email stating if they would still will give me 19k for my trade I would do the 09 Fx4 for $30,500 (MSRP $39,300). I get xplan plus all the inventives they are offering. They responded in writing that they would do this deal. I was pumped, we talked a few times and they agreed again on price. We made arrangements to come in and sign the deal. I get there and they spend 40 minutes 'getting everything ready". Anyway they then came out and said the last time they gave me an overage on my trade and couldn't give me more than 17500 for my truck this time. I said no. Pisses me off.. they said they would do it and then play games when I get there. Am I wrong to be pissed here? I wanted that truck and it wasn't the money it was the principle that made me walk.

You mention you have email traffic from the dealer indicating they would give you 19K for your trade - do you still have the emails? Or do they not mention the trade value?

If they wanna sell the truck, they'll call you back. Best of luck!

I would be fuming. You have an agreement in writing, should be a done deal. Good luck working everything out.

Contact another dealer and purchase it from them. Even if you have to pay more for it. Then go in your current dealer to get it serviced.

Call you original salesperson and tell him when he can get everything back to the way it was as agreed to give you a call. Until then, don't call me.

It is the end of the month...they might be calling today or tomorrow.

Maybe the dealer calls back. If you haven't bought a truck from another dealer at that time, tell him you received a better offer from another dealer and your price has to drop $1500 from your earlier agreed upon price just to match. Then ask how he'll better the deal. Likely, you'll hear the dial tone after that.

Integrity seems to be gone these days. Find a good dealer and you'll find a great price for your new truck.
