I know i cant be the only one that this has happened to.

For example, i plug in my usb stick with 20 songs that i like. I then take the usb stick out and load 5 songs from the computer onto the stick then plug it back into SYNC and it wont find those songs. Its little things like this that drive me crazy. Maybe when the nav gets a bit older and they are more readily availiable on the internet i might i pick one up.
I'll try this on my truck. I use a 32GB USB flash drive that I keep adding music to. I think I would have noticed that issue by now, but maybe not.

I have the Sony non-nav system w/ Sync and I love it. The nav is nice but it's something else to break plus I think it would be a magnet for thieves. Like I said, I use the my USB flash drive w/7000+ songs almost all of the time. I think it's a waste to have a 6 disc changer in the dash because I don't think I'll ever use it. It's much easier for me to use the USB port. Also, I don't think you can't use voice commands for the CD player or radio on the systems without the nav.

I would love to see someone try and take that nav unit out when they are in a hurry. They gonna need a couple of hours to try and remove it.

Have you ever seen a thief that was neat? They'll smash the hell out of the dash. Either way, they'll make a mess out of your truck trying.

I didn't get the nav because I didn't like the extra $2000 that it costs. For me, it wasn't worth it.

CF - believe me, I only learned this the hard way...after trading a couple of vehicles in earlier than I normally would have to get the options I really wanted...I'd say not getting the options actually cost me more in the long run (trading a car in earlier than normal). Now I go full boat or I don't trade...I really am enjoying my Platinum and can't imagine not having the full nav/sound system.

Well, thieves got SEVEN factory Nav units out of trucks on my dealer's lot in one night. Dealership pulls them all out now.
Two weeks after I got my truck, someone tried to break into it in broad daylight.
There was nothing inside, so they must have been after the Nav unit.

The guys that stole my aftermarket Kenwood unit out of my 2004, ripped the whole front console cover off, after smashing a window. cut all the wires, screwed up the AC controls in the process. They didn't worry about taking their time.
And they threw the shovel they used on the window into the bed of my truck!

I have always bought 99% of the stuff i buy that way. You then never have second thoughts about should i have got the better one. Same way i thought when i purchased the truck. Buy the best or always be driving about in something i wouldn't have been happy with. Same thing with the amp and sub set-up. Go all out and then i know that i ain't gonna get any better than what i got. The times i have based my decision on cost i have always regretted it and ended up costing my self more in the long run. I know a guy who wanted a BMW M3 and he didnt want to pay the extra for it so he bought a 328 and then over the course of 5 years he upgraded it to a M3 engine and all. It cost him more than the cost of the M3 in the first place plus he had the cost of the 328 lol.

I'll agree, I traded in a 2004 Lariat with most (if not all) the bells and whistles, for a 2008 60th Anniversary Edition. I missed all the little Lariat features, (Info center, Auto Climate Control, Steering wheel controls, power pedals) even more than I missed the big differences, like Leather Seats. (Also missed the 5.4 engine). So, after a year I traded again for a 2009 Lariat even more loaded than my 2004 was. Now I'm perfectly happy with my truck.

Seems crazy to me they would bother taking something that only fits on certain models and is a bitch to take out and a bitch to fit into any Vehicle other than one that already has it. Very limited market for selling stuff like that. They would be better of breaking into 7 cars with after market audio. Be a lot easier to get the systems out and be worth a lot more. Plus who would buy a stolen GPS capable unit?? People know never to buy hot GPS capable anything because of it being able to be shut down when it is turned on and activated. They Prob tried to sell them to some person then they see all the stange connetor blocks on the back and thought dam how am i ment to connect to that lol.

Since when are thieves smart? I bet the nav thief was shaking to get his next meth hit and he probably thought those 7 nav units were his ticket to happiness.

can you control your sirius with voice commands? ie: "sirius channel 100", then i'm listening to Howard Stern?

as for the voice directions and sports scores on non nav units, that's only for 2010 veh's... upgraded hardware!

I got the Sync without the Nav which is the better option in my opinion. I can't see buying a $2k nav system when I can spend $200 on a nice mobile nav system. So far the Sync without nav has worked flawlessly, I enjoy the hands free voice command communication options and the ability to use a USB and mp3 is great too. I think it's an option that isn't neccessary but if you've got the cash then go for it, you'd be surprised at how easy is it to use and how much you'll actually use it. Enjoy.

I originally thought the same thing, which was a big reason I wanted the factory nav/dvd (as I'd installed Kenwood units in my last two trucks, and had one of them stolen).
But you have to remember, most of these thieves are too stupid to think it all the way through.
