If someone wants the external dimensions of the box then they are more than welcome to them for free. I will get around to posting them on here at some point. I def dont want the hassle of knocking these things up. It's surpriseing how much time has gone into it. With my time accounted for and not going to work and building this it has worked out to about $3200 includeing the amp and sub.

Nice looking box but with all that work you should have used the right material. 3/4MDF is the standard for sub enclosures just for it's density. Other then that looks REALLY good

Both MDF and Birch Ply are classed as non-resonate. You take a look at some high end home audiophile speakers and they are also made from birch ply. Reason i used it is because it is a better all round wood. It's stronger, It's lighter, It's easier to work with, i Dont need to wear a mask when cutting or sanding it and It dont have problems with moisture. MDF is a great cheap alternative to wood but it's just an upgraded partical board. It's too weak to make a good structure without multiple internal/external stuctures to brace it. Sound properties for either type are eactly the same. Aslo you can use either 16mm or 19mm for this size of setup as im only running a low profile Sub so i need the box to be low profile. The box is so small and it has a lot of internal structure so the 16mm was the perfect choice. Using another 6mm thickness of wood would have made me too close to the bottom of the seat.

But if i was running a 18 or dual 15's then i would def be using 19mm MDF as the extra weight would def help the box not rattle and move about. Plus building boxes out of ply aint cheap lol. There's over a $100 worth of wood in that box.

badass box barritia, did you go with the 12" or 13.5" TW5?

Also for cdiddy, where did you hide your amp? did you manage to get it to fit behind the seat?

Thanks Bajalightning. Got it all wired and finished last night and have to do a couple of bits to it this morning then i will post some pics, parts list and a review. Really am impressed with the quality of the JL Audio gear. I can see why it's so expensive now.

Updated beginning of the thread with more information just in case someone else wants to try it. So far it's running lovely and I'm very surprised at how low this sub can go in such a small sealed enclosure.

Is this project an add on to a factory head unit? I'm curious what's on the other end up in the dash.

I have the premium nav system but it will work in any system but easier with the factory sub being in the back already.

Hey Barrita....The Scosche FD07B Ford Amplifier Jumper, how and where did you hook this up? Will it work with Boston Acoustic amps?

Looking this part up it says for 1989-1994 Ford. I'm confused......

That harness plugs into the plug that plugs into your amp thats built onto the side of your sub box(if you have it) It means you can keep the factory wiring and then wire that harness into any amp you like. That way if you remove the sub box you can put the original sub box back in very quickly with no hassle of disconneting wires and so on.

Great....Have you thought about amping the front and rear? Are you using JL Audios Cleensweep or have you used it before?
