Just purchased a new 09 f150 xlt lariat with tow package with agreement the dealer would install the factory IBC - now they say need info on how to install on 09 - their info only shows 08 . I need info to show them that it can in fact be installed on the 09 F150 with tow package. Any help appreciated!!!!!!

If I'm not mistaken you should be able to install the brake controller. The wires should be located behind the panel where the brake controller would have been if you would have purchased it stock. Take a look at this video.

After a purchase deal is done, a dealer is reluctant to spend a penny afterwards. Did you get the dealer to write they'll install the factory IBC on the "we owe you" paper?

You could always call up another dealer, ask for parts dept, get the part number and confirm it can be added to a non-IBC equipped '09. Then go back to the seller dealer with the part number and tell them it can be installed. What a hassle huh?

In order to install the factory brake controller, your truck needs to already have the 7-pin connector located at the rear bumper (tow package). If it only has the 4-pin connector or no connector at all, the rest of the required factory wiring is not present.

If you do already have the 7-pin connector, by all means, the Ford brake controller can be installed. There are a few posts from folks that have had them installed.

I got a price from the dealer today to install the Ford TBC today in my 09 F150 and the price was $690 - $280 for controller - $99 for a plastic dash piece - $9 for bracket - $100 to program the computer and the rest is the estimated installation. This seem high... Can any one share what their cost was?

I signed for my truck today and was quoted this to add the controller:

Controller $290
Labor $140

I wonder what the $99 plastic dash piece is?
According to what I've read here about it, the trim piece is popped off, the little storage bin is removed, and the controller takes it's place. The connector for the controller is attached to the back of the storage bin.
From there, it is merely programming.

The price difference between factory installed item and post delivery installed cost is huge. Bedford, shop around if you can but the dealership knows you need them to program the IBC for it to work.

Yeah - it sounds like the dealer is trying to make extra profit. The IBC package comes with all parts - do not need a extra $100 plastic peice - got mine installed and programmed as part of sale agreement - works great though! Good luck!

I tried to get a trailer controller thrown into the deal on my 09 xlt but no such luck. I found a controller from a dealer in Rhode Island for dealer cost.

http://www.tascafordparts.com//index.do

Just enter the part number in the search box. 9L3Z-2C006-A

$223 for the controller plus shipping

Then it should cost about $50 to program it, if you install it yourself.
