Gaps in the floor of the bed

During lunch today, I was looking at the inside of the bed and I noticed that there are gaps between the floor panel and the sides and front and the header of the bed (I can see daylight). Aren't these joints supposed to have sealer in them before they paint??? I'm going to have the bed sprayed with LineX next week and it will fill them in but I find this strange. Maybe it's just the way they're built these days.

Can you guys take a look at the floor of your bed and see if it's the same way?

Thanks!

they arent big enough to be rain outlets, if water came out of these it would just drip out( the main "rain" oulet is the tailgate jam)...i think the bed just isnt fully sealed.

It's not a hole. It's where the panels but together. I'm just surprised that the panel gaps aren't sealed.

yep, thats the same as mine... idk why it isnt fully sealed either... my guess would be laziness, and that there isnt really a need for it.. but who knows! theres a reason for everything..

even with my spray in Line-x liner i can still see though to the ground on mine. I have about 1/8" gaps. What if you want a dry space with a cap?

i dont understand what you mean by dry space with a cap? do you mean like a watertight bed, and a tonneau cover? this can never be achieved because the tailgate isnt sealed (so that water can escape)...

My truck had drain gaps from the factory.
I had the bed Line-Xed and they too left the drain gaps.

The gaps are just along the bed up by the cab on my truck.

I have taken a flathead screwdriver to them to make them a little wider because they clog so easily.

My truck has the factory rake and a good rain would leave a small swimming pool if they clogged up.

Yep, all trucks have either these small slits or larger water drains. If you park your truck with the front pointing down hill the tailgate doesn't really drain. So these help. On my 08, when Line-x sprayed in the liner they actually made the drains on the front corners larger to help with the draining.
