My salesman just called and gave me a build date of the week of March 16th. I'm a bit surprised as I only ordered it on the Feb. 25th. It's coming out of Dearborn which is good because I live here in the Detroit area.

Now, we'll see when it actually gets built. I know build dates are fantasy sometimes.

Congrats on getting your build date. I'm thinking it should be pretty close to reality as it's not like the production line is behind on demand or anything. My production day is TODAY I'm getting excited...it could be here in less than two weeks!!

My truck was built today and will be shipped out tomorrow. That's not too bad because the order went in on 2-25. I should have it next week! I can't wait!

Wow...GREAT news for you...I ordered mine on Feb. 16th and it STILL hasn't been built yet...nice move - whatever you did - enjoy your new truck and post pics as soon as you get it

 

HotLap, I thought your build date was March 9th???

I guess I just had good luck on this one. Every dealer I talked to told me 6 to 8 weeks. The plant is just a few cities over from me although I don't think that had anything to do with it.

the build date would have a lot more to do with what trucks they are already sending down the line. Ford isn't going to halt production of FX4's for one XLT or vice versa. Add this to the fact that Ford has WAY TOO MANY FRIGGIN options/combination's of trucks and you get long lead time trucks.

 

April 20th build date. Looks like delivery sometime in may. I guess this means even a larger down payment and no driving in the snow.

 

WOW, that's actually a ways out...I think I'd go buy one off a dealer's lot. As a matter of fact, if my dealer wasnt' a close personal friend that's exactly what I would be doing right now with my Platinum...my local dealer has a White Sand fully loaded Platinum that is a beauty...just sitting on thier lot....when I ordered my Platinum, there weren't any 5.5 Platinum 4x4's without the max tt package around...now their all over. Hopefully mine should be here before too long!

Congrats on the new ride. I got mine Saturday and the new generation F150 is amazing.

 

Yeah...no kidding thats a ways out. Assuming I take delivery the first week of May that puts me at 11 weeks from the date of order. My dealer and I looked all over Ontario for the truck I wanted, but couldn't find anything that matched so I had to order, otherwise I would already be driving one.

 

Do you normally get your build date by mail or the dealer notifies you?

 

The dealer will notify you. I also have a few family members that work for Ford so they can track the build progress using an internal Ford website.
