Thumbs up Planned mods for your 2009 F-150

For those of you who have recently taken delivery and those of us who are awaiting the arrival of our 2009's what are you planning on doing to your new truck? I'll start and am curious to see what everyone is planning:

Truck ordered: 2009 Silver Platinum 4x4 pretty much fully optioned

1) Window tint (still deciding how dark I want to go)
2) SliverStar headlight bulbs
3) Edge (or some other) plug-n-play tuner (have one on my '05 and it makes a huge difference in everyday drivability)
4) Leveling kit
5) Linex spray in bedliner (will use my rubber bed mat for a while first)
6) Magnaflow (or other) single exit exhaust
7) K&N air filter

Hey Hotlap ya might want to give the silverstars a miss. I bought some and to be honest the factory bulbs were exactly the same. Read some reviews on them and it seems the silverstars aint a great idea over standard bulbs on the newer ford's. I took them back and the girl said that this happens a lot with these bulbs. She said try the ultra's but she said they aint much better than the silverstars so dont expect them to be much better.

Sounds nice...what kind of tonneau cover are you getting and do you have a pic of it? That would be someting I might consider as well!

Barritta, yeah there is quite the debate going on as they arent all that much brighter - but (for me) they were a whiter light that looked better than the yellowish tint of the stock bulbs. I have them in my '05 and had them in several of my Mustangs proir to selling them. The real answer is out there though...FORD are you listening...Xenon headlights I don't even think there is an Ultra in the H13 yet...(according the Sylvania's web site that is).

So, Barritta what have you done or are you planning for your Platinum?

K&n air filter

Hey baretta i noticed you have a k&n filter i use to have one on my 07 and found out that its not good to put an oil based filter on the f150 because the air flow sensor is so close it tends to suck oil out of the filter and onto the sensor and can cause miss readings. You might want to check with a high performance shop and see what will work best. This is what im going to do when my 09 platt comes in next month on the 19th.

Line x color matched dk blue pearl
Catch all floor mats
tint windows
dvd in back for kids
retrax bed cover
custom made seat covers
high perf air filter
remote start

The Ultras's would be nice but we are still waiting for them to pull their finger out and get the h13's. I think you will be more than happy with how white the stock bulbs are on the 09's To me they looked exactly the same as the silverstars.

I did have a roush exhaust planned but waiting on an email from them about an exhaust to fit the 09's. They said they are going to but not sure when.
Line-x will be done some time in the summer. Im extremely happy with everything that is on the truck and the exhaust sound seem to be getting better the more miles i put on!!! might not even change that after how good it sounds now. My biggest upgrades are normally AV but the AV in these 09's is awesome so thats a few k i will save not changing that.

Here's what I'm going to do to my black on black FX4 whenever I go and get it.

- Smoked headlights from Raptor.
- Smoked tail lights (no bright/chrome trim) from Raptor or Harley. OR a set of aftermkt LED tlights if they don't have terrible chrome trim.
- Gloss black B Pillar from Platinum.
- Ford Bed mat
- Toyo Open Country LT285/55R20s
- Retrax bed cover
- 3m clear bra to protect the painted bumper.
- Catchall floormats.
- Husky mud guards F & R.
- Silverstar Ultras, when they are out.

Hello everyone,

Mine is the white sand tri-coat metallic platinum. I've never been so excited about a truck before. I've owned 4 diesels, last one was the '08 gas guzzler, and an '05 F150. I'm really enjoying the quality and thought that went into the platinum.

Here's what I've done to mine:

Flow-master exhaust. 3" pipe from back pressure cans to 3 1/2" chrome tip. (single side exit) Dual exit is only cosmetic as it is just a branch from the right side. You really need to keep the back pressure cans for the engine to run right.

K/N Drop in air filter

Skyjacker 2" leveling kit

F-150 rubber floor mats front and back

Things I still would like to do:

Tint driver and passenger side windows

Some kind of retractable bed cover (any suggestions for the best one out there?)

Mud flaps

Performance chip (although the exhaust and air filter really did help already)

Change out the tail light box to something without chrome

Find a trim piece of brushed aluminum, to match the grill, to fit where the front license plate goes.

Other than that, the truck is perfection.
