In the Shop

I had to take my truck in Monday for a transmission leak. The Service Rep. said a transmission seal is bad and they had to order another. They said I may get it back by Friday. The Service Manager said mine is the first '09 they have seen in the shop.

That sucks!

Hopefully that'll be the only problem and you'll be shop free for a long time. One of my worries about buying a first year model is some of the possible kinks that have yet to be worked out.

Sweet mother of ghost!!! A bad seal on a new vehicle!! Unheard of!! FoMoCo is surely going to go under now due to the dismal quality control off the line.

Anywho... hope you get it back soon. I'm sure it will serve you well over the years.

Easy children... It's just a seal. You're telling me you've never messed up a seal before?

I had a bad head gasket... no biggy, they just replaced it and I was good to go. Sometimes someone has a bad day at work... that's all.

wow, you guys need to relax. The first year stuff means nothing....You can get a truck that has been out for three years and have issues... Does it mean that theres major issues.... NO.... Im tired of people saying that the first year sucks... Some people have a few issues, but does not mean that all first year issues have problems... I have a feeling that the auto companys test the heck out of the vehicles.......maybe.........

Agreed. I've bought 3 "first run" F150's and didn't have excessive trouble with any of them. My most recent, the 2004 with a 11/03 build, was virtually trouble free and is the best vehicle I've ever owned. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I wouldn't hesitate to by a "new" model.

The reason you hear this is because 99% of people who say this would love the first release of a new model but most cant afford it so they say they will wait until the 2nd or 3rd year in. By the time they by it the new models comes out 2-3 years later and then it's the same all over again. Every Motoring forum i have ever been a member of has been exactly the same.

Got my truck back yesterday. The service manager said it appeared as if the seal was not positioned properly during assembly. The dealership provided a rental while I waited for my truck.
