Thank you, my lease is done in September and I'm wondering about getting an 09 with the ecoboost

Seems rather silly. Why choose either of the other two over EcoBoost if it makes the same power and saves a lot more on fuel?

I'd rather have the 6.2.

Like Msal said, the aftermarket will be more friendly towards the 5.0 and 6.2.

Also, rumors of the ecoBoost only available in AWD ?

I want 4x4, not that AWD crap. Another selling point for the bigger engines.

Turbos will break, cost more money to fix. I can see problems they would have, that a much more simple 5.0 or 6.2 just wouldn't have to deal with.

Cool find OP !

well the article suggests that the eco is good for 10y 150,000 miles but most truck owners will end up pushing well into the 200s on the current and older model F150s. 150,000 miles isnt good enough for me :o

yes you can clearly see two cam sensor wire/connectors on the valve covers up front on the passenger side.

BTW those pictures are from a mustang if someone didnt notice the strut towers

More displacement for the F150 and Mustang FTW!

Even if Ford does manage to get 400 hp out of a 5 liter motor(which I'm sure they will) its going to be very hard to mod any power out of it without boosting it.... Ok wait thats already the case with Modulars.

I think if Ford wants to develop a better motor for the cheap they ought to give the 5.4 a 3.700" bore,(which would give it 351 ci) and make DOHC's the standard. From what I have read the Coyote motor is a Modular based motor with a 3.6" bore and stroke, but I'm no expert and don't know for sure.

I would be very impressed if ford could get 400HP from a 5.0l. They had trouble getting 100bhp per litre from the GT with a Supercharger. I know you can get as much power as you would really need from any engine but they then have to be reliable. But if they can do it thats great but at the moment they are lucky to be getting 58bhp per litre and are going to have to jump that to at least 80bhp per litre to get that kind of HP. Cant see them doing that my self.

Thats another thing im curious about. Did any of the US ford vehicles ever use the cosworth engines?

I agree 400 hp seems unlikely unless their planning on spinning it to 8k+ rpms. I accidently wrote "(which I'm sure they will)" when I ment to write "(which I'm not sure they will)" when referring to them making a 400 hp, 5 liter, high production motor.

Also it doesn't bother me as I have to use it anyway, but I would think premium fuel would be manditory with this motor. Many don't like to pay for it, but I guess if they want this motor they'll have too.

Still I love Fords, and I'm not trying to root against them, just being a little skeptical. Hopefully they knock one out the park.

Ford says the 6.2L is a 2v to enhance its low end torque, yet the 5.0L is a 4v. So does this mean the 5.0L is not a torque pig. Perhaps. I can see how it would be "ranked" below the 3.5L EB as its tq is way down low.

So you line up at botton of hill with 10,000lb trailer, and I see the finish in this order.
4.4L Diesel (if/when offered)
6.2L (when offered/application)
3.5L EB
5.0L
