cpfixer,

Please keep us posted as to your remote start situation if you do go for an aftermarket one. I didn't know that with an aftermarket it would be possible to remote start things like heated mirrors, heated seats, etc?

I know the '09 ram can remotely start it's heated steering wheel, not sure about the seats but I think those also if I recall correctly. Wonder why Ford can't get the 150 to do that?

I noticed that on my 2004 with dealer remote start, my radio will come on when remotely started unless I shut it off when parking my truck. My 1997 & 1998 F-150's had aftermarket remote starts installed, and they could be set so that when remotely started things like your radio would NOT come on, which was awesome!

So keep us posted. Would be sweet to know if a Platinum could not only have one installed, but that it could get things like the heated seats going!

PS I saw an '09 ram drive by me the other day. What a shame. Not that I ever really liked the ram, but boy, that thing looks as if the front end is still drooping and may hit the pavement in front of it at any moment. What an incredibly weak design for a vehicle that's supposed to be tough, bold and in-your-face. What a droopy sad mess.

I have my heated mirrors hooked up to my Ford remote start. I have the remote start and keyless entry all in one 4-button fob. It has two AUX outputs. So I used one for my heated mirrors. The other could be used for heated seats but I don't have them (cloth seats). This unit has been discontinued I think but can still be bought from dealer stock.

So now Ford just offers the basic remote start (1-button keyfob so you have to carry your regular keyless entry fob too) or the Gold system (remote start, alarm, and keyless entry all in one 6-button keyfob). I don't think you can hook up any options to the basic remote start. But for the Gold system, you can hookup at least 2 options like I mentioned above. The extra 2 buttons on the remote fob actually say 1 and 2 on them for the AUX options.

To cpfixer, if you email me through my profile, I can send you the tech file for the basic remote start system. However, it is listed for years 07 and 08, so I'm not sure if the system changed for 09, but I don't think so.

I have a Platinum and I have a remote start. So it is definitely possible.

Are you saying that the 6-button fob is offered as an Ford OEM accessory and will work with the Securilock?

yep, www.fordaccessories.com it's listed for 07 to 09, but can be installed on any year.

With all of the Ford remote starters, you need the Securilock (PATS) bypass module, it's sold separately.

This is correct and Travis @ kcautosound.com not only sells you the remote start and securilock system he also pre-wires them for you.

Jvos did you find out if your alarm had to be disconected as clifford still cant fit me a dam system for my platinum. Ford/Audiovox still saying that the only way to get the remote start on the platinum is to deactivate the alarm. They said that it still seems as if it works but the system that stops you from stealing the car and sounding the alarm if they try to hot wire it or steal it no longer works after the remote start is fitted. This is still platinum models only though?? This seems crazy to me.

How can I test this? As far as I know this is not the case, but unless I can test it, I cannot definitively say.

found this in the remote start technical document I have (Barritia and jvos try this since you both have Platinums and post your results back here):

Test for Factory Perimeter Alarm (vehicles equipped with factory RKE only):
1. Roll down the driver’s door window and then close all doors, hood, trunk or hatch;
2. Lock the doors using the factory RKE transmitter;
3. Wait at least one minute, then reach in the driver door window and open the drivers door (do not unlock doors with the factory RKE remote).
(If the vehicle’s horn begins sounding when the door is opened, the vehicle is equipped with factory perimeter alarm. Unlock the doors with the factory RKE remote to turn off the alarm. In this case, wire the systems factory perimeter alarm disarm wire to the vehicle’s perimeter alarm disarm input (See the vehicle specific wiring section). If the horn does not begin sounding when the door is opened, the vehicle is not equipped with factory installed perimeter alarm.)

Ford's remote system works great it's from code alarm. Have mine for 2 years and love it. One button key fob with a fusion key. set to 15 mins.runs everything in the truck just as if the key is turned on.

Thanks steve i will try this in the morning. The word From clifford is that they can fit me remote start in any 09 f150 except the platinum. They said something about the code hopeing system used in the platinum. Audiovox said the same exact thing almost but it would be good to know if the alarm really is disabled when remote start is used. Other than hotwireing the car i dont know how we will know if the system has been fully deactivated. Hopefully your test will tell us.

Barritia, if Jvos had his dealer install the remote start, why not just have your dealer call his dealer and find out how they installed his remote start?

No way I'd own a vehicle without remote start, that'd suck to the max and beyond.

Did you guys get LoJack with your trucks? I always did, and LoJack always had it's own alarm systems in addition to whatever the trucks came with anyways. I think they also had a remote start option too but might be mistaken, it's been almost 5 years since I dealt with all the new vehicle rigamarole.

I agree. This is what I installed for my girlfriend last week. I know that they have option of selecting b/t 10 and 15min run time, do you happen to know how to set this?

First not burst anyone's bubble but Ford RMST suck, they are so limited in their functionality and extremely over priced.

second heated seats and heated mirrors on the 2009 F150 can not be activated through a rmst system because those options are controlled by the can-bus network and no one makes a interface module to work with them. older F150's used a simple ground pulse to turn on the heated seats ect so it was very easy to activate them but its no longer the case with the 09.
