I've driven new Ford F150's since 1978, currently I have an '04 4x4 Lariat....after seeing the new F150's about all I can say (sorry if I offend anyone)....I just want to go out back and barf. I saw the new Lariat at the Philly show.....I left there really upset with Ford and the styling on this new generation. Couple the looks to no real fuel economy gains....I'll just keep what I have.

That's how I see it as well. The '04-'08 models are the best looking F150's Ford has ever made, they took a real step backwards with the '09's. I don't know what bothers me more, what Ford did to the F150 or the fact that in a few months I'll be seeing them everywhere.

i also agree, and its not just because i like stret trucks. i love most f150 models. i love the 04-08's, the 97-03's, 92-96's. the 87-91's were also but ugly, but the early 80's models were gorgeous...

anyway these 09's are FUGLY imo. the side profile isnt that bad, but the front and rear ends are horrendous. those stupid headlights and grill look like they are trying too hard to be a new super duty(also strange looking) and it just doesnt flow well at all. maybe in certain trim levels with lifted trucks i think it would look pretty good, but this truck and that KR in that other thread are just weird looking. and so much for any kind of street look. i dont think its even possible to make a sexy looking street truck out of one of these things. the previous models could accomplish both lowered and lifted and still look good, but that freaking giant front end makes it impossible.

this look coupled with the current lack of powertrain upgrades makes me hate the new f150. sorry for the rant, but im very disappointed with ford...

Well, at least I know what the UGLY gray color is that is replacing the Dark Shadow Gray on the new Superduties. They discontinued (and balanced out) on the Dark Shadow two weeks ago because of a colr change for 2009. The only hope is the Toreador Red that has been discontinued, also, will be Redfire.

The 09 F150's ain't a new generation it's a redesign. The new generation F150's will be out sometime later in 2011.

Thats the first real picture ive seen of the 09. I like the side view and the interior is ok, but i really cant stand what they did to the front end. I think i can get used to the headlights, but the grilles are horrible IMO!

Ford sure did tire manufacturers a favor with the bigger wells. Wonder what lift is in the 4x2s, if any. The gaps on the wheel wells are just terrible.

I don't mind the side and I suspect there must be some model that has a decent grill, but I cannot get past the rear view. No thanks.

I am just thankful that it doesn't look that much different than my 07'. I hate buying a vehicle, and the body style changes. Looks like I will be happy with my truck until 2012.

The wheelwells, since that is what we were discussing. Reading is fundamental.

I agree. I can't imagine with all the competition Ford will let the '09 refresh be the design for the next 5 years. I respect DD's posts and all, but if I was working for Ford I would also not want anyone thinking something new was coming down the pike in only a few more years. Not good for sales, not good for their jobs. Then again, if he's right I'll have to eat those words.

But my gut says that Ford will want to do something sooner rather than later about MPG, and that really involves another full redesign for aerodynamics, etc. There's no denying that MPG is one of the biggest deciding factors nowadays in a vehicle purchase. Trucks may have a built-in audience with home builders/etc. But if they are such a high-margin item, then any auto company would also want your average buyer to consider them as well, and very few will nowadays with the gas prices. I'm hoping this refresh is only for 2-3 years before we see a new F-150.
