Not impressed w/ 2009 - yet ...
I didn't really like the '09 when I first saw it but it's definatly growing on me. The only thing I still don't like about it is the chrome on the tail lights and the ford emblem sticking out of the tailgate so far. The picture of that Black supercrew XLT changed my mind about the whole thing. I've been putting off buying a new superduty because I wanted to see how the new F-150 would look. If we get a big horsepower engine within 6 months of the release there is no way i would buy an f-250. I love the superduty but it's a tank and it has a horrible ride(compared to the 150 anyways). With a few mods these trucks will look amazing. Tinted windows, leveling kit(full lift kit if thats your thing), Maybe some rims for those of you who like aftermarket rims, and some bigger tires and you have one mean looking truck and hopefully the power to back it up. The interior is pretty nice also, i wish the seats were a little more cushiony. They don't look much better than the current ones. And I really don't see how some of you guys are liking the new dodge, The grille just ruins it for me. If Ford gets us some good HP and TQ numbers I think it will continue to be the best selling truck. If you think about it most people in the world don't buy a truck because it is the BEST overall truck, they buy it because it has the most horsepower or because it looks pretty haha. It's hard to please people, the current truck is hands down the best looking truck on the road other than the superduty and maybe the GMC denali but it doesn't have the power most people wanted and it was still a huge success. Im satisfied with the power in my truck but like any other man out there i'm always looking for more.
I Haven't been around it a while and I just thought i would share my thoughts.

why are you racing trucks that were not meant to be raced?

I like my 06 and plan on keeping it. It ain't no slug now and I still think it is the nicest truck available 'today'. But in 09, when it is paid off, the wife wants a truck and unless Ford gets some decent power from the 09, they lost a 3x Ford truck customer. From what I see today, we'll be buying a Ram sport. Someone has one here in their sig across from an 09 FX4. I just like it better so far. But of course I will be be driving them all first - and still won't even consider a stupid nissan or toyota.

With the new 6 speed transmissions and the new engine options, the 09 F-150 will be no "slug." As long as it has more than adequate merging capabilities, I personally couldn't care less if it outruns another model. It's as dangerous as hell to get one of these things over 100mph anyway, without special tires that very few of us will ever have. Now I agree that if it turns out to be a total slug that can't merge safely with a decent sized load, then I'm not interested, but like I said, I believe that the '09 will have this problem resolved. Time will tell, but its too early for a reasoning person to write it off yet...
I thought the new Chevy copied Ford when they came out with it last year. I'm beginning to think that the 09 Ford now looks more like a Chevy. When the 04 F150 came out, it really set itself apart from the looks of Chevy. Now it's getting harder to see the distint difference between the two.
EXACTLY!!!
I also don't give a rat's a... how fast it is, as long as it can get out of it's own way when merging or pulling away from a stop in the left lane where people expect to MOVE along. That's all I want, who the ^%&*% cares about RACING a truck?!?! Why do people always assume we want to RACE when we say the 150 needs some more ooomph? If the truck actually moved and it was only 5hp, I wouldn't care. As long as it moves the heck out of its own way when merging. HP wars mean nothing to me, but my safety and those of my passengers does. To fear for your life when merging is beyond ridiculous!

When I bought my '04 I had no complaints about the HP, until 2 years ago when I bought my camper. The first time I put that 6K lbs on the hitch and hit the highway it changed my perspective REAL fast. Merging with that load is scary to say the least. I find myself mashing the pedal to the floor and hoping for the best!
I'm not expecting much improvement on this at least for '09, although the 6 speed tranny will make it feel like there's more HP then there actually is.

The Dodge and Toyota are surprisingly soft looking, with those front ends drooping towards the ground in some sort of defeated, sad way.
At least the Nissan and Chevy try to keep their front ends up and tough, even though they both are bleh. The GMC is really the only 'beautiful but tough' looking front end besides the Ford. But the rest of the GMC doesn't stand up as well as the front.
And all the interiors are passe compared to the F150 interior, even the current '04-'08 model. Love that massive NAV screen in the '09!

And is it me or are chevy/gmc trucks REAL low to the ground anymore?
Power is nice on them, but I just don think they will hold up, as the past couple I have had did not.
