im not exactly 100% on all the information, but could someone clear this up for me. Did the ford PDF brochure that people posted links to (not working for me right now) say there would be the 5.4 and the 4.6 and 4.6? Who officially said those would be the 3 engines? I cant seem to find it =\. Thanks!

And you calling others "fanboys" is quite funny.
LARIAT CHROME,
I was thinking the same thing. They have a 5.4L capable of close to 400 hp in Austraila and I would like to see a GT500 motor N/A. I bet it would put out a good 350 hp.
Even though both a DOHC motors, but that's what it would take to get the job done.

...they can. The 500horse gt is an example i suppose...to be fair it isn't just a supercharger either....there will be significant 'tuning' changes to the 5.4 to accomodate the forced induction...everything from fuel/air remapping, timing, injector specs, exhaust system specs etc etc. The 5.4 in that state of tune will have a much much higher failure rate than the 300hp iteration.
I suspect a 10% increase in max hp is in the cards perhaps a bit more. I think to some extent they were hamstrung w/ the 4 speed box to maintain the higher capacity ratings such as payload & towing.....they would have to have kept the 5.4 in a state of tune that perhaps emphasized lower end rpm and torque rather than a 'higher peak' rating. Now w/ 6 ratios to work with...you could with very little effort retune engine to give up some lower rpm power/torque & get a 'higher overall' hp rating whilst retaining your hauling ratings.
Better yet you retune the motor for more power across the rpm range and exploit the 6 speed to increase your hauling ratings. Both scenarios are possible to me.
The engine application has to be looked at as much as 'what is possible' with a particular motor platform when deciding what sort of power output you set it up with.
A sport ute's motor will see a different duty than an engine in a pickup & they are engineered as such. If you look carefully at spec charts....some of the super heavy duty pickups have engines that are rated at less horsepoer than their light duty cousins.....the difference is the power/torque lower in the rpm range is tuned to be much higher.

that's my point, im sure anyways we will still be stuck with the 5.4 and 4.6 for the release but all this talk, the main source was freakin motortrend, they get a LOT of things wrong, i dont want to get my hopes up but i just wanted to clear that up for myself, that it isnt official yet.

here you go number1ford,
click on advancements, then best of towing which is under capability, then scroll through the pics on the bottom untill you see the powerscope mirrors, click on the mirror pic and then you should see a related advancements link in the middle of the page saying all new v8 lineup.
