When Are 2009's Expected?

Anybody have an EDUCATED guess when we can order, or when they'll hit the lots?

The 2009's will debut at the Detriot Auto Show in January, don't expect them to be on dealer lots till August or so................F-150's at least!

So, just as I figured... probably around earlier 2008, rather than late 2008. I doubt Ford will want to sit any longer at the bottom of the pile. It seems every year, the newer models are released earlier and earlier. I suspect it will follow along the lines the 2008 Superduty did... early spring. But, still, I'm looking for someone with some actual hard data back-up.

Read that too. In a related post the truck could be unveiled in Dec at a NAIAS charity party.... Could be seeing it within 2-3 weeks?!?

Also the bad news in that forum was timing of the 6.2L. could be 2010, a year after Diesel.... WoW would that be a disaster. And only slight bump in 5.4L... 10-15hp. I'm so hoping htat is wrong. The 6.2L even the std issue needs to be out ASAP...

If the 6.2 or the diesel doesn't come out within a year of the truck being released, then its going to be an absolute disaster. They'd be better off delaying the truck a little longer to have a more complete line up IMO.

Question

Weren't there rumors Ford was going to shave some weight off the truck for '09? Perhaps with less weight and a slightly more powerful Triton V8 it will make a noticable difference? Just a thought?

And don't forget the 6 speed. I understand it made a noticable difference w/ the Expedition... That and a 6.2L and perhaps some weight savings (elsewhere other than engine) and it could all be good again...

Maybe, but removing weight means removing metal. I would rather have a strong heavy truck over a flimsy light one.

Not nessesarily, could be other things like glass too. Our thick sideglass really adds lbs too. That and teh new frame were thte two biggest contributors to the heafty 04+. When I checked out glass on new GM's it is not nearly as thick, yet they too are a quiet ride? I'm sure Ford will be reviewing all these options. I read some interview a whiel back on chief enginner for the new Gm's and thier goal was to get their trucks to be rigid like the Ford(or close to), but without the extra weight. For has now ahd 5 eyars to do same with these so i'm sure they will. Thing is, the extra 6 inches int eh cab, teh tailgate ladder, the outside box steps, the bigger engine, and possibly the new 6 speed tranny will all add lbs.

But hey these guys didn't go to enginnering school to get the girls did they!

I do agree, I love our stiff frame and quietness of the +04 truck. Don't want to give very much of that up.
