I read some interview a whiel back on chief enginner for the new Gm's and thier goal was to get their trucks to be rigid like the Ford(or close to), but without the extra weight. For has now ahd 5 eyars to do same with these so i'm sure they will. Thing is, the extra 6 inches int eh cab, teh tailgate ladder, the outside box steps, the bigger engine, and possibly the new 6 speed tranny will all add lbs.
But hey these guys didn't go to enginnering school to get the girls did they!
I do agree, I love our stiff frame and quietness of the +04 truck. Don't want to give very much of that up.

Job 1 will be in June. If anyone is lucky enough to visit DTP at the right time, we will be building some test trucks through system starting Jan.18 (although you all will see photos before that). About 8 a day to get everyone familiar with the truck.

I've got almost 150K miles on my 04 FX4 Screw and I'm waiting and waiting for the 6.2L. I guess another 14-15 months.... I was at the NAIAS back when the 04 debuted and I overwhelmed the Ford media guy so much with questions he finally gave up and handed me a media kit. I want to go this Jan but I can't this year. Bummer.
I'm very curious as to how Ford addressed MPG concerns. Based on the Expy stuff I hear, the 6 speed will help. Perhaps small gains in aerodynamics? Even if they did lighten up the structure a bit, the SCrew is now what 6 in longer so that adds lbs.... Wait and see I guess
