My tires are series E and I have them at 50lbs. I suppose I could back off a little but wouldn't want to go below 45lbs.

As far as the shocks, the truck only has 26,000 miles and the origional shocks (and yes I bought it used). I don't see how worn shocks would make it ride rough. They might make it not handle well, they might make it not rebound well, there are a lot of things shocks can effect, but I'm talking about hitting bumps in the road and jaring you eye teeth loose. That initial impact that is transmitted through the truck. If anything, I would think worn shocks would improve that particular element. The wheel strikes the bump, and if the shocks were worn to the point that they offered little or no resistance, it would allow the wheel to immedately move instead of having the resistance of the shock not allowing the spring to absorb the impact.

Now I'm no shock expert, and I could definately be wrong. This is my own shade tree logic. And if I am I would like sombody to 'splain it to me.
I would like to be wrong, because if getting a softer ride is as simple as installing a new pair of shocks, IM THERE

As primitive and simplistic as this suggestion is, I think you are exactly correct, right down to the amount of weight your suggesting and where. I have hauled a fair amount of weight in the back and it does make a considerable difference.

Do you currently use this particular method? I will eventually get a truck cap (topper) for my truck which I think will add about 200 lbs.

Do any of you 163" WB guys have a topper?? Did it help?? What kind?? PICS?

Lets see here, thinks that my dream F150 must have.

-diesel motor
-Jake brake
-be able to get 20 mpg or more
-a diff locker option for front and rear
-solid front axle for 4X4's
-6spd tranny, both manual and auto
-4.10 gears without getting the HD package
-Tow command system

Thats about all that I can thing of, off the top of my head. But I am sure I will think of more.

I use the ballast in the winter (which is still hangin' on ) but now I've got a bunch of tools and stuff back there.

For sure the more weight you put in your bed the smoother your ride will be. I think you need at least 300 lbs. before you start to notice an improvement.

The cap will help, but it's distributed over the whole bed, not just at the axle. Also, you may notice a bit more wind turbulence with the cap so it's a bit of a tradeoff.

More HP/Torque or make better use of the HP we have - gears, 6speed
Air conditioning that really works in the summer
Auto up/down all windows.
Power Retractable back window.
Better cloth seats.
Factory remote start.
Feature like chevy has, just bump the key and it turns the starter until the engine catches.
Mega cab version with a 6.5 box.
Darker tint on the rear windows.
Better brake pads that dont dust up like the stockers do.
Led tails and marker lights.
Radio feature that reads out station/song info on analog radio.
Upfitter switches.
Real Skidplate on FX4/Option.
Better rear seat storage options.
Superduty style mirrors.
Built in inverter with power outlets in the cab and bed.

What to keep:
All of the options.
The good looks.
The great frame.

I mean a bigger rear cab area. I dont know what to call it in ford speak. Tundra uses crewmax, dodge mega cab. Ford uses super and supercrew, XLCab?

I have a crew with a 6.5 box. Check my sig. I'd like to see a bigger cab with a real box. Maybe asking for too much.

Factory remote start built into the factory key fob.

1. Larger Rear End w/Selectable Locker to compensate for larger motor.
2. Auto Down & Up windows (ALL)
3. Lights in glove box/hood
4. Heavier more solid console shifter
5. At least a 5 speed.
6. Large vertical sliding rear window
7. More aggressive and blockier styling, if it's built Ford tough, give it the look of one too.
8. More aggressive headlights, this is a must. The current front end looks like a little girl owns it.
9. Solid front axle with heavy duty package (so I can do an easy swap)
10. Design some new hubs ya dumbass.
11. More room inside, I can hardly spread'r eagle in there ;]
12. Diesel :]

everyone who says this has gotta be kidding.
a factory SVT that can go offroad will never happen.
they design the SVT's is street and to be low riding speed demons.
they wouldnt/couldnt design them to woop sports cars at the track and still have clearance to take em out to the ol' mud paths out back.

A diesel engine and a five or six speed auto. I'd be alright with that.
