What would make your dream F-150!
hrmm...my dream truck ...
OK take my truck...
Add a supercharger, add dual exhaust, add about 5 miles per gallon, and give me a 6 year, 60,000 mile bumper to bumper factory warranty all for the same price.

Being that my truck is 21 feet long I could really use 4 wheel steering.
I've never tried it but I hear it's great for long wheelbase vehicles, especially for backing up.
I'll take that extra 5 mpgs too.

The NEXT F-150
I'd like to see the heavy duty frame offered on all frame lengths, not just the LONGEST frame. Ford likes to advertise their maximum hauling and towing capacity, but in truth those are only obtainable with a LONG BOX. You should be able to haul / tow those capacities in any configuration, minus the 4x4 penalty of course.
Also I'd like to see lower gearing options and front and rear limited slip / locker options.
Transmission temperature guage
Optional 4 valve 5.4
I'd love to see a SVT 4x4 F-150 that could compete with the Dodge Power Wagon. A really capable heavy duty F-150 4x4. I think the Bigfoot concept was just a total joke.

The F150 doesn't have a smooth ride if you have the 8200GVWR suspension like I do on my 04 scab longbox 4x4.. I think it could be better. Also, if you do a search on "softer ride" or such, I have seen plenty of people complain about the ride on the F150. Mine definately rides stiffer than my 99 scab longbox 4x4. I don't know if there is that much difference in trucks, or if peoples perception of what's comfotable/acceptable is that different.

I have the same truck as you (04), (or is yours not a 4x4?), and all I've been doing lately is trying to figure out how I could get a smoother ride!!
Have you done anything to your suspension??
Another thing, I didn't know they made an FX4 in that configuration...

It's 4 wheel drive. Your tires may be overinflated or the shocks are worn. You bought yours used, right? Check the tire pressure. These trucks should not be riding rough at all.

If you put some ballast in the bed you'll get a smoother ride, at the expense of slightly less fuel economy. Probably about 3-400 lbs would do the trick, and keep it over or just behind the axle. Some people use sand bags, but I tried some feed bags (corn) from a farm supply place. Doesn't freeze and is easier to move around, but it is a bit bulkier.
