After watching the Ford Torture tests on this motor & how they abused it this motor in this truck is a Dud of a dissapointment! LOL....

You act like the 5.4 didn't have any growing pains of it's own. Some of the 2V's were spitting plugs out of the heads. The 3V's had cam phaser issues and spark plugs breaking during removal. Then they fixed the spark plug breaking issue and some still had cam phaser issues.
FWIW, they aren't all duds. My Eco hasn't had any issues in the 2 years I've owned it.

I have had the 5.4 3v (twice), 3.5L EB, and 5.0L. They all have their own quirks, but all are solid engines. Plain and simple the 5.4 is a dog compared to the other two, but it still got the job done. As far as long term reliability, I don't keep them very long so I really don't know or particularly care.

Yes they are good engines. I still own a 5.4L. and a 5.8L too. They aren't speed demons by any means but they get the job done. Those old dogs will never die. Name: dog.gif

Who says they started testing them at the same time?

sorry guys, Totally forgot about this thread! Since i dont have the 09+ trucks i dont come around to much.. As far as the trucks that i was talking about when i started this thread they have been sold within the last year.. They usually sell them with around 350 to 400k on them..

I called my buddy this morning to see what they are using now. He said most are 2012's and still have a mixture on the engines.. He said the 2012's seem to be alot more reliable then the 2011's. Here are some of the mileages he gave me..

2012 5.0 302,000 miles only repairs are the transmission at 193,600 miles..

2012 5.0 314,800 miles Tranny at 202,000 rearend 267,000

2012 EcoBoost 274,000 miles tranny 148,000 rearend 199,000. Replaced turbo's 155,000 and 228,000,

2012 Ecoboost 289,000 Tranny 198,000 everything else original

2012 6.2 F250 309,000 Tranny 245,000 rearend 280,000

They also ordered some 2012 Rams with the hemi.. They are all around 180,000-220,000 miles and all of them are on their 2nd engines and 3rd and 4th transmission's and rearends..

Ture, but with the way these trucks are drove it would probaly be safe to say that the average driver should be ok.

That amount of mileage in that short of time is crazy. What an awesome real world test.
