Heritage Edition

Hey all,
I've seen the new Heritage Edition. Best part, my wife LOVES it! (Therefore, I might actually have sort of a shot and an upgrade...)

Has anyone seen one live? Ford's brochure photo looks fantastic. It's about the best looking truck I have ever seen.

I'm thinking that I might rather have a heritage edition SC 4x4 over the new 2004 model. What do you think? Maybe I'm just partial to the red and black paint job...

they're here in big D....

some are arizona biege with the black top and some are burgundy ...the all black interior could be a challenge to keep dust free...but i like the front bumper and the labeling ...they also come with a ford bed liner but that was a waste...too bad they did'nt put a 5.4 in 'em it seems they only come with a 4.6

They come with 5.4's in them also. Every one that I have seen, (about 5 of them) all had the 5.4.

The three color combos available are:

Black over Burgandy
Black over Beige
Black over Shadow Grey.

Saw one a while ago and yes they are the best looking truck out here.
It was a burgundy/black and the bucket seats had burgundy accents which looked great.
Had a black interior too, which is a nice change from the greys and browns.
Gotta like the sun roof too!!!

They are sharp looking trucks except for the Nerf bars
I hate Nerf Bars on a truck
They screw up the truck lines and don't blend in at all
That of course is IMHO

I've seen them in MO. Black and burgundy with the 5.4 and spray in bedliner. They look great, and seemed bigger too, probably not but I am used to my 2wd.

i've said it before...
if this was to be a true heritage edition, the truck would be:

monotone paint
vinyl bench seat
manual windows and doors
regular cab
flareside
3 speed manual on the steering column (3 on the tree)
twin I beam

just like the heritage trucks they are trying to compare it to.

just cuz its a 100th anniversary Heritage edition, doesn't mean it has to be a dirt cheap bottom of the line truck. Why not make it a really nice truck to represent what fords are. Its a heritage edtion, not an old technology replica on a new body style. if it was that, then why do you say twin I beam, wouldn't it be a solid front axle, some 15" skinny wheels or whatever, wooden bed floor, old flat head v8, no radio, no a/c, no heat. Just cuz its heritage edition doesn't mean its 1903 edition. Its to celebrate 100 years and how far they've come, not what it was like 100 years ago

i do agree on the flareside thing though, but some of the others, ford wouldn't be able to sell a truck like that today.

I ordered a 2003 Black/Burgundy Heritage 4x4 and I picked it up right after Thanksgiving. This is my 3rd F-150 with the current body style, it is (obviously) by far the most refined and the most quiet of the 3. I was getting kind of bored of the F-150 two tone paint schemes, so the Heritage caught my eye when I was shopping around. So far, the '03 seems like a nice ride. My first tank of fuel was about 14.5 mpg, about 1.5 mpg better than my '99 (both have 5.4/auto).

The Heritage is an XLT based truck, you cannot get the leather seating surfaces and other Lariat exclusive options. It is only available on the 139" wheelbase as a Supercab. Even though I live in Arkansas, mine was made in Norfolk, Virginia. Are they all made there?

I do like the Heritage option package, the two tone seats are sharp, the wheels are very attractive, I like the Ford step bars and the Ford bedliner. No rattling or sliding around with this bedliner. I did throw an inexpensive rubber mat in there to keep things from sliding around in the bed. The Heritage Edition costs $1200, but you get most of that back through features that are normally optional, if you get bucket seats.

I didn't order the moonroof, but I did get power sliding rear window. It's kind of a neat option, not cheap, but handy.

I've noticed that most folks have the same reaction to the Heritage Edition that I did. At first it may not seem very attractive, but it grows on you pretty quickly.

Finally, I heard the reason that the Heritage has the black color is a throwback to the early model T, you could have any color you want as long as it is black. Neat.

I like the idea about it being vinyl with power nothing... LOL...

Heck, smack a schnazzy emblem on it and sell it for $35K... just make it a limited edition and people will buy it!

LOL

I just bought an F150 Heritage, 2003 with 28,000 miles. What would have been a fair price?
