2004 f150 sketch...

If you go back and look at all the articles, press releases, etc regarding the current generation of F150, Ford's strategy was to personalize the F150. Differentiate it from the work truck. Ford believe the truck market was going to change. I tend to believe Ford was right, and Ford helped drive this change.
The new F150 was to be a more personal vehicle, a little smaller and certainly more comfortable. It was known that the F150 was still going to be used as a work truck, but also known that it would also be basic transportation as well. Thus, lighter duty (better ride, no high strokin diesel) and better handling.
I think they were right on in their strategy, they differentiated work trucks from personal trucks and created a new Brand doing it.
Why would Ford want to put a diesel capable of a huge payload in a truck that is not capable of handling a huge payload?
Want a diesel? Buy an F250, same and GM.. buy a 2500..... ??

If you are loking at the 03 Expedition, than remove the back end and add a pickup. Whala....F150. No different from the 04 Durango..03 RAM...add a rear shell and you have a Durango.

I don't think I'd go as far as saying the Sport trac and Sport are related to the f150. I think Ford is just using common styling cues on their truck products. Now that you bring it up though it is the same grille in the sketch as the current Explorer Sport and Sport Trac. I just went out and looked at the front of my wife's Sport and it looks alot like the grill in the sketch only the sketch looks like it may be standing up more than the Sport/sport trac.

The spy photos clearly show that the doors are disguised with black panels to cover the window details. The interior panels and such maybe prototypes or mismashed from current trucks.
These are test mules and not final designs. It is very common for mules to be "50%" complete and the rest temporarly assembled with current parts.
I hope the truck looks like the original sketch posted at the head of this thread and not that yellow truck.
Seems like you guys got all the info on what the new F150 will look like!

I seriously think that the 04 F-150 is gonna have the 03 expy design. It's just cashing the same check over again!
I did notice however that the sport trac does have the same grill that the 04 F-150 sketch has...so???? Is the '04 F150 the sport trac bigger brother?

I think the "yellow" rendering, looks exactly like the original sketch?? The original looks "beefed up" for effect, which is not an uncommon thing for artists to do. Seriously, the wheels and tires on the black and white sketch are so large it wouldn't even be able to turn a corner. The body looks puffed up. It does look tough, but it's just not very realistic, IMO.,,,,98
