Steering Column Tilt Adjuster Locking Lever install

A little tricky to do but not hard. Bought a used 2004 XLT from a friend. Steering wheel too high; tried to adjust it, but no lever. Asked friend why no lever; he told me, but I didn't pay close attention. Reinstalled lever and set steering column to desired height. Now a happy camper! I decided to mess with lever some more. Moved lever up and down a time or two, then LEVER CAME OFF. NOW I know why friend did not have lever installed. IT COMES OFF EASILY IF YOU MESS WITH IT. Luckily, I hadn't messed with steering height. So, so now I'm doing what my friend did. I'M LEAVING THE LEVER OFF. Built Ford Tough, has been the words behind the brand since 1979. Those three words are more than just a slogan though, it's what Ford is all about. REALLY? I'm sorry to hear that. Somebody told me I shoulda bought something else. Live and learn.

I had the same problem multiple times with my 2004 Lariat. The last time I took the time to fix it so it won't come off again. I don't remember what I did but will check if you're interested.
