2006 f150 starter problem s

The starter on my 2006 ford f150 is clanking off the flywheel when I turn the key, the engine isnt locked up. When they starter is off tranny housing it engages and works properly

Starter mounting bolt sheared off, missing, loose? Photos showing starter at rest and then after you try to crank it could help.

Inspect the teeth on the flywheel/flexplate and if they are okay, you might need a new starter.
