2005 led puddle lights

2005 led puddle lights

So I wired in some led puddle lights to my truck but now when I open the door the lights flicker but when I shut it they stay on perfect anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it ?

You installed it yourself. Nobody knows how you wired it, and what the schematic is. You will have to check your own wiring. Most likely the connection to the door.

Just guessing ... because they are getting a better ground with the door shut than when it's open. Unless you ran a ground wire, the lights are getting ground through greased hinges only, but when the door is shut, you add the latch or strikers with pressure exerted by seals and bumpers.

What are you using for switches?

@tbear853 they automatically come on when I open the doors or unlock the truck I tapped into the factory dome light wire and grounded to one of the bolts on the side mirrors

@tbear853 I never thought of that though you might actually be right the door makes a better ground when it’s shut rather then when it’s open I will try grounding to a better spot inside the truck to see if that works, Thanks
