Question Key Question

2007 F-150
Today as I was unlocking my door and I dropped my keys. I accidentally stepped on them and broke the loop part of my ignition key. I want to drill a hole close to where it broke so I can put it back on my key ring. Is there a chip in this key? Can I drill a hole in it?

Chip in mine, but I'm not sure where exactly? Maybe a lock smith guy or someone at the dealership will know where it's at, where safe to drill.

It is a chip key. I wouldn't take a chance with a drill. You may drill right into the chip.

You can buy a snap on plastic cover for the key that will duplicate the ring attachment. My son is still using it on his Hyundai key broken the same way. I think he found it at an auto parts store for a couple of bucks.
