Custom Cluster Question

Howdy,

I've been toying around with an "Experimental" mod/project for my truck. my '08 XL has an issue with the oil temp gauge that is now pushing the needle of the oil temp.

I was wondering if its possible to take a '15+ cluster and hook it up (ONLY for the Speedo and Tach) I will remove the screen for the productivity center and put my own screen, running IOT on a raspberry pi, or something and have my own gauges, and information, etc. The layout of the cluster is perfect and I wouldn't have to worry about much else.

Thanks

interesting idea.

Have you started by seeing if they are even remotely close in size and shape?

What about the digital display with the odometer?

This isn't a Mustang II from The 70's, where you can take a drill to the odometer dial and roll it back. Not that I committed odometer fraud. Just heard that it was possible is all.

Just when the person sells, trades, or disposes of the vehicle, usually the title will have a spot for something like: Certify that, to the best of my knowledge, this odometer reading is “NOT THE ACTUAL MILEAGE." with a checkbox.

My buddy has a truck that the odometer doesn't work when he bought it.

I have the software all working. The odometer is going to be an issue I need to work with... but I will cross that bridge when I can.

I am looking though junk yards; and online auctions/etc. to find a dash so I can test to see if it even lines up. I don't want to spend a lot on the cluster till I know if it fits. I would rather put the money towards projects x, y and z

the numbers portion of the odometer can be programmed prior to install

as for the speedometer portion you can get a digital conversion to mirror the output signal of the transmission that the cluster is looking for
