has it been done?

so i know out of the gate the better solution is to just buy what i want but it if i go that route its a different platform and a lot more money in the end. so............

has anyone successfully converted a 2wd to 4x4? i know the majority of parts i need but still curious if im looking down an untraveled road.

Big questions are so far,

1 is the 4x4 frame the same unlike the previous gen

2 is the wiring harness there just tucked up somewhere for the t case?

I assume at a minimum the frame is different for transmission crossmember and front differential

Are you planning to go IFS or SAS? that and the tranny mount would be different.

I think your best bet would be buying a salvage vehicle as a donor, maybe a Tbone total? Then you'd have all the parts you need, and move your body onto the donor chassis

This was pretty much my thought. Need to pull some measurements from a 4x4 truck to start and see if the frame is the same.

If you can list out what measurements you need, I can try to pull them for you. I have a 04 STX SuperCab 4x4, with 6.5 bed.
