2004 - 2008 F-150

won't go in P and keys are stuck in ignition

Question won't go in P and keys are stuck in ignition

08' F150 4X4 V8 66K miles, never any probs before today, came out of Lowe's and couldn't get it out of Park, then I could get it out, drove home and now can't get into Park and my keys are stuck in ignition..... any advice

Check to make sure the brake lights work. The interlock uses the brake light switch. Owners manual has the bypass procedure for the interlock.

yeah, checked that, the brake lights work.....

you wouldn't know the "Cliff Notes" version would you, I looked in my owners manual and couldn't find anything.....thanks again

Page 269 - Automatic Transmission Operation. There's also a fuse for the interlock. Fuses start on page 299.

thanks glc, I can't get it back into Park now since I backed into my driveway.....it's in Neutral and I have a big chock under the rear wheel and the keys are still in the ignition .
and we have snow coming tmrw.....poor timing for my
F 150
having it checked tmrw

small broken piece inside the shifter handle itself :-(
can't get the part till Monday from a stealership
rented a Honda accent.....whomever designed them should be in prison.....
absolute torture, I feel like I'm in a clown show driving around ;-)

FYI.....just the shifter assembly was $330. YIKES ;-)
