Squeaky front end after installing new struts
I have a 2007 Ford F1 50 FX4
125,000 Miles. I just replace the two front struts and two shocks with Monroe parts. I did the installation myself with help of watching several YouTube videos. Installation was a breeze other than breaking the nut’s free. I did not run into any issues and things went rather smoothly.
I was very impressed with the results. Smooth quiet ride. Four days after the installation under normal driving conditions one afternoon I started to hear a squeak coming from the front passenger side. By the time I got home both sides were squeaking and even started squeaking if I turn the steering wheel. Upon inspection I checked tie rod and upper and lower ball joint‘s body mounts everything good. I managed to pinpoint The noise coming from the bottom of the new strut. I remember the video stating that you need to put the Weight of the vehicle on the strut and torquing it
To 350 foot pounds.
I Skip this procedure and simply tightened the lower Bolt up with my impact gun.
Thinking that not properly torquing the bolt being the cause of my problem I remove the front wheels jacked up the
No we’re suspension arm with a bottle jack and then proceeded to tighten the bolt down. Noise went away and I was very happy until today exactly one week later it’s back doing the same damn thing. At this point the only thing I can think of was not applying thread locker. I cannot take this noise it reminds me of someone running their fingers down a chalkboard. Any advice would be appreciated.
