Flip the truck. Buy a Honda.

Unless you really need a half-ton truck, seriously, a 16 year old kid would be better off with a little Honda that requires very little wrenching, and just runs forever.

I've got an 07, and mine has required very little......so far. But I am fortunate that I also own a motorcycle, a van.......and a little Honda. I've got a 97 Accord that has only needed oil changes, tires, 1 battery over 20 years, and gas.

The real problem with Honda is that they don't make a real truck.

There are days when I'm wrenching the Harley, and thinking that I should ride a Honda instead. But that's another issue.

Thinking back to being 16, I couldn't afford a car. My budget only allowed for a bike. My folks wouldn't give me a down payment for anything. And back then, I did ride a Honda.

Second post had me worried with my '07 @ 62K (want to do plugs soon) .... Glad others are doing well.

I agree, 16 years old buying gas, etc, small Honda / Ranger / etc is a better choice, but then I traded a VW at 17 on a Dart 340 Swinger .... "just 'cause".
