New here, Please help! Not sure where to ask a question???

I have a 2005 f150. Lately I have been having an issue with starting my truck.
At first I thought I may need a new battery because I could
hear the clicking sound of the starter (I think). If I wiggled the cables I could get it to start. That worked for about three weeks. I thought everything was ok, but today I still could her that clicking when trying to start it, but it sounded like a dead battery. Once I took the key out I heard a humming sound, it kinda reminded me of the sound an aquarium pump makes coming from where the cab meets the bed. I then took the cable off the battery and the humming stopped. When I put the cable back on, it started again. Does anyone have an idea what that might be. If I can have an idea what the problem might be then maybe I can fix it or at least be informed before going to an auto repair shop. I have been ripped off really bad in the past so I try to find the problem before I go. Then I have a better idea what my cost might be and what is involved with the repair. Thank you in advance!
Victoria

Clean all the cable connections and have the battery and alternator load tested. The noise you hear is probably coming from the body control module that controls the security system.

In addition to the cables, check your battery voltage. It should measure 12.6 volts with the engine off. If it doesn't, take it to Auto Zone or your nearest auto parts store and have them load test it. There should also be date sticker somewhere on the battery. If it is over 5 years old go ahead and replace.

The humming could very well be the fuel pump and is a normal sound. If you wiggled a cable and it started, that means the cable is loose. It needs to be tightened. Also check for signs of corrosion around the cables and battery. You are looking for a white or greenish 'powdery' buildup-tell tale signs of a bad connection. You can clean them with a wire brush and connector cleaner...
