2006 4.6l rough idle or hesitation on start up, only when cold out.

My truck is starting to hesitate on start up when its cold out, by that I mean that when i start it the rpms are really low and then it picks up and idles normally...

I also have a slight rough idle a stop lights sometimes but its pretty slight and from what I have read this is normal.. I'm not sure if the two are related or not.. I probably noticed the rough idle at stoplights about a year ago. but the rough idle on start up is brand new.

Also worth noting, the exhaust smell is pretty pungent in the morning. running rich maybe? The truck has not thrown a check engine light...

I tried replacing the fuel filter last weekend but that did not work... Where to next? The truck only has 68000 miles...

Check for any pending codes. They don't always throw the cel.

You are starting to have either plug issues or coil issues or both. Replace plugs first. I used the Motorcraft SP515. Worked really well. I also replaced the coils with a higher performance coil from ebay. Now the truck runs like a top!
