2005 F150 paint peel
Seems to happen on only 2004 and 2005 trucks. Paint peels right under the fuel door and then rust sets in. The problem seems to only happen in areas where road salt is used. I haven't seen any Florida trucks that had the issue.
I'm pretty sure it's a factory defect on those model year trucks. I haven't seen any 06-08s like that, but every 04-05 in my area has it with lots of rust too.
You'll have to get it repainted, but first figure out the problem and what's causing it. Search for rust under fuel door or paint peeling under fuel door in the search function on here. There have been MANY posts about this issue.
Hope you find the info you need.

Must rot out from the inside somehow.
Every 04 and 05 in my area has that issue.
Never seen it once down in Texas. Up in Minnesota this week though and it makes me think of how happy I am to not be driving my vehicles in this environment any longer -- cancer on cars all over the place!
Just about every 04-05 I see here in the northeast has this issue with a ring of rust right under the fuel door. Peeling paint is just the beginning.
You guys that don't see much road salt won't be seeing this issue too much. But it still happens.
