175,000 miles
So, I'm one of the fortunate ones. I was lucky to find this forum, which has helped me maintain my 2004 5.4 3v since I purchased it with 39,000 miles in 2008, so I THANK YOU for your help.
A few years back, at 110,000 miles, I changed the timing chains, cam phasers, tensioners, guides, etc. Here I am 65,000 miles later, and I'm considering doing it again. I've read in several articles that the 3V is capable of a 250,000 mile lifespan, so I'm wondering, should I spend the $600 in parts, and change them again?
This truck is by far paid off, so it's not going anywhere. But I'm concerned that since moving closer to work (with in three miles), that the transmission is gonna start to wear out. I do maintain the fluid and filter changes, but you never know.
Have you changed your timing assembly more than once? If I pull it apart again, what else should I check?
izzy
Thanks in advance!

I have 177424 miles on my 05 right now. Bought it new had only 10 miles on it when I drove it off the lot. My cam phasers are still original haven't had problems out of them yet. Only had to deal with the injector deal that the 05's have and replace a alternator and a window regulator. Other than that its just normal routine items truck still runs like new.

My truck rolled 175k 2 weeks ago...the camp phasers went a couple of days after it rolled 175k...it started missing on bank 2...I thought it had to do with the plugs I put in a few days earlier...phasers and VCT solenoids = $ 1500...
All good now! This is the most miles I have put on any car...
