Getting parts from the dealer

I’ve noticed that sometimes when you go to the Ford dealer to get a part your get a red and black Ford Motorcraft box and sometimes you get a blue and white Ford “Genuine Parts” box. Is there a difference (other than the box) with the part? I’ve even seen the same part with two different boxes available online.

Does anybody know if there is a difference between a Motorcraft and Ford part?

What are you doing that you are that fussy?

Dealer is the last place I'll buy parts unless I have to due to price - and if I have to get a dealer-only part I'll order it from Tasca. Yes, I do prefer Ford/Motorcraft parts, but there are quite a few parts where aftermarket is just fine.

generally speaking, MC is an OE quality replacement, and OE is well OE

The part was the Drivers side power window switch. I had heard about Tasca from some one in the past but I had forgotten about it. Too bad because I would have saved $34.

Thanks

Exactly.

You can get Motorcraft brakes (aka OE quality) OR you can get Ford brakes, which is exactly what came on the truck from the production line.

Redbox vs bluebox in a nutshell.
