04 Air Bag Light Question
04 Air Bag Light Question
Hey guys, I have what maybe a stupid question but hoping someone can enlighten me.
Backstory:
GF has a 2004 F150 5.4 Auto FX4, she bought it with the air bag light on and the dealer (non-ford) told her that it was under and active recall for the clockspring. I made an appointment and our Ford dealer changed the clockspring said that it was not the issue and that we would need to schedule another appointment to diagnose the light. I did some research and have come to the conclusion that it is an Airbag Code 18 which involves the PAD light. After discovering this I then noticed that the light was out and checked the connection in the back was connected. It was.
So here is my dilemma, we were to go on vacation next week and were taking the truck because we need to haul a trailer. The Ford dealers nearest us do not have open appointments for three weeks.
My question is, as long as the air bag warning light is on the dash, am I to understand that in the event of a crash the air bags would not deploy?

No, they will still deploy, but it also depends on the severity of the crash and what sensors are malfunctioning.
The only way they will not deploy is if you take them out, were already deployed, or removed all sensors, or had a serious fault with the system that compromised it.
