FFV Question
Slow day in the office resulted in me using the vin decoder at www.etis.ford.com, which is by far the most detailled vin decoder online (H/T member Tcp2). One thing I came across on the list of minor features was FFV-(ethanol) fuel. From what I've read, a good number of the pickups made in 2007 (my year) are flex fuel trucks. I've never put e85 in my pickup, but my question is, wouldn't there be a sticker on the gas door or have a different colored gas cap if the truck were flex fuel? I know the newer trucks ('09-'14) have the flex fuel badge. Just wanted to get some thoughts/experience on this!
For some reason 2007s don't have any physical identifications besides the vin # and window sticker claiming FFV or not. The fuel filter is bigger on FFVs also. Mine also is FFV, my fuel cap only says "Ford recommends BP".

Not sure about the F150, AFAIK the FFV can only be determined by the VIN #. My 2000 Ranger was a flex fuel 3.0 V6 and it had a little badge on the tailgate to indicate that, and that's it. I ran that truck for 100K and never once put E85 in it...
i really doesn't matter in my opinion, while e85 is cheaper and does make for more power, your fuel economy will tank seriously. My 2013 on regular 87 octane makes 360 horses according to Ford and on e85 I think makes 380ish. on 87 octane i get 600 miles to tank. on e85 I get just over 400.........doing the math, it costs me more money to buy e85. now its a cheap power adder!
