Just ordered the SCT X4 tuner and SB intake!

Just ordered the SCT X4 tuner and SB intake from 5 star and I am excited to see what it does to my truck. Can anyone tell me what to expect or some tips or pointers for both?

I should be going from stock to intake, exhaust, and chip. I hope it was worth the money.....

im not to sure about the sct tuner either. its just what everyone seems to go with but not sure how this is compared with my imports Hondata kpro reprogrammable ECU.

Suggestions?

Well, don't expect to take a second off of your 0-60 times or anything, but most people notice better throttle response and slightly quicker acceleration. Some see a tiny mpg increase, if any, assuming you keep your foot out of it. The major restriction on your truck is the cat/exhaust manifold setup, so unless you get headers, I doubt you'll see much improvement from the exhaust/intake mods. You'll need to get custom tunes on the SCT programmer to really take advantage of the whole package. You'll probably end up with about a 20-25HP increase at the crank, it's nothing mind-blowing but it's a nice bump.

Yeah, those are custom. The X4 is going to make 80+% of the difference.

Yeah, I was just letting you know that if you're wanting to know what it'll be like, the different shift points are going to be the biggest change in performance/driveability IMO. Exhaust will sound great though.

yea I am excited. it should be here tomorrow(Monday). I think I am going to power wash the engine bay before I install the intake. make the bay look a little better.

so any tips before I install intake and chip? do I have to hook it up to a computer?

DO NOT POWER WASH the engine! You will cause all kinds of electronic issues!

5Star sends the tunes to you via email, which are put onto the device via a computer.

I don't like pressure washing engines either. Low pressure water can be alright, but I'm an advocate of never cleaning the engine bay at all. People do it, just be careful and make sure not to spray directly at any electrical components.

I didn't mean power wash, I meant degrease the engine and then hose it off. I don't know why I did that.

well I hope this tuner comes with instructions.

Mike at 5Star sends good instructions inside the SCT's packaging. Believe me, I'm retarded with this stuff. Right now, I have a different computer than the one I originally used for my X3, and I'm gonna need new tunes here soon, but my computer won't recognize the X3 and I have NO idea what the heck I'm supposed to do to make it work haha.

so finally got them installed last week. was a bit more of a PITA than I thought with the SCT tuner just because they had to program mine because it was a new code they hadn't seen yet. but here is a before and after shot

my impressions are that I am pleased with the purchase. seems to pick up a lot better than before and def sounds good. people that cry about the drone must have never been in a car with an intake before. that's what its suppose to sound like. intake is quite while cruising but when you want to hear it you can make it go.

and a little picture of the truck
