6spd conversion..

I have an oppurtunity to get a 6R80 for 500 bucks with only 52,000 miles on it. It's off an ecoboost and I know that they stuck it on 3.7-6.2 and the 4.6-5.4 3v back in 09-10. Are the bolt patterns the same? Would anyone know if there will be a issue in it fitting? I'm seriously about to pull the trigger on this swap. Anyone have a wiring diagram of the pcm on which harness controls the transmission? I can pick up a harness and pcm from a totaled 09 f150 and possibly transmission lines if needed

On '09 and up, there is a tcm... transmission control module. I wouldn't even attempt it. You'd be better off using a manual. Even then, a massive amount of work.

Not sure, but I think starting in '11 they reintegrated the TCM with the PCM. I also think there's a way to put a standalone TCM in yours for the swap.

I went and looked at a 2010 f150. The pcm connectors are identical to the 04-08 model besides the connector on the left which is designed a little different on the outside. But all connectors should fit the stock wiring harness in the 04-08. Now for the Tcm, is it not built in to the 09-10 models on the pcm? If not that makes it a little easier I suppose.

I'm never gonna do this haha, just wondering what it'll involve.

All I know is the '09/'10 have a separate computer for the transmission. I'm excited to hear about this future progress however.

The F150 6r80 has it's own built in computer and the one in the Mustang uses the PCM to operate it.
Interesting, does the 4r75w run off the pcm? Or is it a stand alone as well?

I believe the 4r75 runs off the main PCM and does not have it's own,

Hmmmm, if the 2009+ pcm will work since it only controls the engine maybe we can bypass the transmission setting on the 04-08 pcm. Me and blown ford have been talking about this. He's gonna call troyer Monday and find out something on it for me. I'll keep y'all updated.

ive got access to any diagrams/specs out there

Just guessing here, I'd assume you'd need:
  • Flywheel and Convertor
  • Cooler lines
  • Shorter driveshaft
  • Crossmemeber and mount
  • Controller and wiring

if you're going OE controller you might need updated shifter since I think they added 3rd as a "manual" selectable gear

I have seen the term 4R75W used for 2004 and up 150's. Isn't it a 4R75E? The 4R70W being used in the previous generation.
