Being that our 04s are now 10 years old I got to wondering, who here has the lowest mileage 04?

Mine has 61,100 as of today.

I bought it bone stock in January of 05 with 29,000, so if I average it all out I have put about 3500 miles a year on the truck since I bought it, mainly because the first couple of years I owned it I put 6-7000 a year on. About 60% of the miles I put on are towing our 7000lb camper, the rest are hwy miles. We just took it on a 500 mile road trip last weekend and averaged 17.8 on the trip, I was following my bro-in law in his 2013 1500 Z71 Chev (since he knew the way to our destination) and he only averaged 16.6mpg. I was shocked, even though my truck is leveled, bigger wheels/tires, and heavier I still got better mileage.

So how about the rest of you 04 owners??

 

Just wanted to comment that is awesome about your truck. The low miles and use you get out of your rigg is awesome. Especially achieving better mpg than a GM 5.3 with a 5.4L. Always liked your nice clean tasteful truck .

 

84,000 miles. Bought it brand new in the summer of 2004.

 

I just rolled over 109,000 the other day. I go to school 2 hours from home and drive home nearly every weekend, so that has racked up some miles in the past year.

 

Thanks a ton for the complement! I still do really like my truck and even after having it for over 9 yrs I still get excited about getting it out of the garage every spring, washing and waxing it all up, and then driving it. As for the mileage, I know on a long road trip my truck will pull down anywhere from 17.5-18.5 (it averages 14-15 if just running around on numerous 20-30 mile runs to town, and gets anywhere from 8.5-10 towing the camper), but I was shocked that my bro-in-laws 2013 got such "bad" mileage on a longer trip.

I do need to take some new pics of the truck and change my sig, since that pic is about 5 years old. Since that pic I have had the tail lights tinted, installed painted badges with inlays and a couple other little things.

 

42,000 here but mine is a late production 05. Often thought about trading but really don't know what for since it is set up exactly for what I use it for.

 

Well, I don't have an '04, but I just checked the mileage on my '05 and right now I am sitting at exactly 2999.9 miles -- so the next time I take it out and drive one block down the road I'll cross the 3000 mile mark.....

When I ordered my truck back in '05, the intent was always that it was going to be a "sunny afternoon cruiser" only and not a daily driver of any kind. However, I never intended for it to have this few of miles after almost ten years of ownership -- that is simply the result of being extremely busy with work and family and having almost no time whatsoever to devote to things that make me happy as an individual.

Believe me when I tell you that I wait with great anticipation for the day when my son is old enough that I can start burning my free time doing things I want to do (like taking my truck out for a cruise!) and not the things I have to do as a husband and a father. In fact, I've already warned my wife that when that day finally arrives, don't expect to see me around much on Saturday's or Sunday's.....

Oh -- and my '08 Mustang -- that's sitting at under 700 miles right now for the same exact reasons.....

I have 307 miles on my 04------ that is 307 miles on a new engine, the rest of the truck is at 98,000 miles. Never should have bought a first year of a new model year, but I did = my bad. Major engine work was done under warranty and it failed a month ago. I consider the 5.4L 3 valve to be a POS. So now I have to keep this truck, which I have kept in great shape over the years, with a brand new POS engine in it. Never another Ford for me.

 

Okay negative Nancy. Good luck with a Gov't motors or a Fiat

One engine going after 10 years and 100k miles isn't that bad, especially if it wasn't maintained properly.

 

I consider only 98k to be horrible engine performance since for 10 years I have babied it with 4,000 mile Mobil One oil changes with Motor craft filters. Also had major upper end engine warranty work done (cam phasers, lifters, plugs, head removal, etc). I have paid enough $$$ to earn the right to call this engine a POS. I will look into Cheby , Toyrotor, or a Sheep truck, but Ford has lost me as a customer. A good truck should take you 200k.

 

That has to be the lowest I have ever seen. What is that like one oil change .......

 

My cousin had 58K on her 04 when she bought it.

 

The oil on both the F-150 and the Mustang gets changed once a year -- whether it needs it or not......

 

Don't disagree, but how's about seeing how long this motor lasts (assuming it's actually a fresh, brand new motor and not a rebuild) before you write Ford off? I don't necessarily blame you, but having a problem with one component on one vehicle and hating the whole company for it is not justified in my opinion. The truck will probably make it to 200k, just the motor didn't. The fact that you had any work done on it under warranty suggests that you got a bad egg right off the bat. Motors from all makes have let go at 1,000 miles on occasion; some of em are just bad.

How's the rest of the truck been? Cause everything on a Sheep will fall apart. Ain't the powertrain that hurts your wallet on those. I'm not supporting our asinine gov't or the clowns that can't get the unions off their own backs. And I don't drive foreign vehicles, so no Japanese trucks for me. Tundra is made 2 hours from me and I don't care for it.

For what it's worth, I'm not a giant Ford fanboy either. Had a Suburban before my F150 and it was a great truck, just liked to eat transmissions later in life (ha), but didn't blame all of Chevy for it. Neighbor has it now using it as a shop truck. I'd consider buying another Chevy down the road if they hadn't taken bailout money. Dodges I know to be crap. I work at a dealership and see plenty of "quality" Chrysler products.
