2004 F150 4x4 lariet. I bought it brand new in 10/10/2004. I have 44,439 miles. The only problems i had are transfer case shift rod replaced, and acturators replaced, motor is quiet, no cam phaser issues It still looks new and still has the new truck smell on the inside.

You ask how is the rest of the truck. It looks great because I am almost OCD about taking care of everything. No rust on this truck. Today I finished washing off what I hope is the last of this brutal winter's salt and road crud and washing everything underside. Hoping for some global warming soon so I can wax it to keep it that way. It felt odd to be washing a truck surrounded by snow drifts up to the front hood. The replacement engine is a Ford reman with a 3 year warranty. Why I am so disgusted with Ford is because they have known about this model's plug problems, cam phaser and lifter problems, right side engine oil starvation but they never did any recall. If I had not been reading this forum I wouldn't have known about some of these problems to get the dealer to fix. And then I had to go to 3 dealers to find not that recognized the cam phaser and lifter noises. And then they broke 4 plugs and had to remove heads to extract them. All done under warranty yes but then it all died at 98,000 miles. We have had 4 Hondas over the last 30 years and put 160,000 to 180,000 miles on each with no engine problems like with this truck. If Honda made a real truck I would probably own it. I would like to stay with Ford because they did not take any Gubment bail out money, but I have lost faith in the product.

Couldn't agree more -- if you held a gun to my head and said I had to buy a foreign car, I'd probably get a Honda for the reason you stated. Going down to the dealership and picking out a new Toyota would have all the allure of going down to Lowe's and picking out a new shovel.......

As a quality foreign make honda and yota are top of the list, but to me they are about as appealing as a stick of already been chewed gum. I would walk before I owned either one of them. I had a cavalier I bought new and it was good car, just a magnet for bad drivers. That car was hit seven times until finally at 88K it was rearended so badly they had to total it.

I bought my 2004 Lariat brand new.. She always been a garage or driveway queen and sits right now with 21,240 miles.
I don't think I've had a passenger (my wife only) in it more than a handful of times and that's is.. The interior still looks and smells new and exterior is pristine.. All I do is mod it and change it. I plan on keeping this one forever, who knows maybe I'll have a whole garage full of barn finds in the end.
2004 f150 Lariat, orig owner- 21,240 miles.
1988 Mustang GT, orig owner- 49,000 miles.
2003 100th anniversary HD FLSTFI, orig owner- 3,800 miles.

My bad for doing pom pom cheers for Honda. I think shifting the subject in mid thread is bad form here, so naughty me. You are right to say that Hondas have as much character as chewing gum - sugarless type. Our Honda Pilot looked real bad in those crash test results that came out a few days ago. So I guess I should be happy that I have the F150 to save me when I want to crash into stuff, and with that new engine I can do a good job of it. So I guess I should be happy with Ford for something. Maybe all my ranting is making me a more mellow fellow.
