K&n cai

Alright guys so I have the 57-2556 Cold Air intake and on the instructions it says
30a. On vehicles equipped, attach the factory
brake booster vent hose to the K&NŽ intake tube as
shown.

Now I have a 2006 Ford F150 XLT, and my friend has a 2005 just like mine but in his hole he just has some type of screw and no brake hose line, am I supposed to hook a line up to this from the brake booster line and if so where do I get it? Or do I do nothing and just plug it with this black cap that came with the kit as well? Sorry if I am asking a stupid question :P

Plug it.
And let your buddy know he needs to start saving up for a new engine. Running a cai on the 04-05s runs them very dangerously lean.
My friend refuses to listen to me about it and he has gone threw two motors already. He insists to keep putting that intake on.. Guess what, now he doesn't like Fords..

It will make your engine run lean but not as bad as the 04-05s they came from factory in a lean condition.
Now if you couple that with a canned tuned programmer like a flashpaq or other cheap programmer, then you will be asking for trouble.
I spent $20 on the gotts EZ mod and got the same performance you got outta that $100+ intake. Minus the chance of running lean and fouling out the maf sensors with the oil you use for the filter.

Mmmm, I see, and sorry but I been searching on ebay and amazon forever and can not seem to find the stock air intake, I guess I don't know how to search for it, what exactly is it called or maybe the part number? And you have me convinced thelariat to now turn around and do exactly what I got for the deal and trade it to someone else. See I found someone that traded my intake for theirs k&n cause they said they were tired of hearing the noise and i thought heck thats a good deal, so I went for it, and now that I have it hooked up, its no big deal to get rid of it just yet, but was curious on seeing if I could find some oem air intakes for sale maybe and either order one and sell this cai, or maybe trade it off now that I know what I know, PLUS the drone is kinda loud now that I drive it and its really not that much of a increase in power, plus I like the idea of being "stable" and not having trouble. Thankyou thelariat02!

No problem.
Check the for sale section on this forum, to see if someone has one. Or post in the want to buy section.. Or even go to the salvage yard and pick one up.
Then look into the gotts mod. There are 2 different ones for these years trucks. I went with the one called the gotts EZ mod.

You should be able to find a stock intake in a junkyard.

Round Trip,

Not sure if you have purchased one yet, but here is a link to an OEM intake setup

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-04-08-Ford-F-150-Truck-OEM-5-4-Liter-Engine-Air-Box-/121270262432?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AFord%7CModel%3AF-150&hash=item1c3c455aa0&vxp=mtr
I have personally purchased one of these takes off and can vouch for the sale. You even get the original OEM paper filter. Everything is there that's required for mounting.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Nem

Get a custom tuner from troyer, vmptuning, 5 star, or php. I got mine from vmptuning for my 4.2 and love it. Took about 2 days to get my custom tunes emailed after sending sending the computer code. Cost me $420. Tell them it's an out 06 5.4l and you want to put on a cai. They will write the tune and once you load it, put on the to cai. It will will be safe. Those 4 companies I listed specialize in f150s so it will be good.

Hi Timmy!

/jack

Is is just me, or has the forum, since the advent of Stupidphones, become more unintelligible and difficult to read, with fewer folks searching, and a LOT of folks apologizing fer their phone / App behaviour?

Not to mention all of those 'tarded 'Sent for my Brand X Stupidphone via the Brand Y Stupidphone App' attachments. I mean WTF, who gives a crap? Don't fellers realize how tacky that is (and that it can be turned off)?

/unjack

Oops ... fergot - OP - Sir Lariat gave yall good advice. Save ye a pile o' Ca-ching too! Articles fer the Gotts Mods are in the How-To section.

Good luck!
