Power Steering Pump Endplay?

'06 XLT 5.4
Last year at ~60K miles inspection of the belt revealed a very sloppy idler pulley. This would be the grooved idler between the water pump and power steering. Purchased a new replacement idler, Goodyear brand IIRC, installed and everything seemed fine.

Now at ~67K miles inspection of the belt and pulleys revealed that the grooved idler pulley is, again, sloppy. I could see that the power steering pump shaft could be pulled in and out ~3/16", I'll need to find calipers to confirm. This seems excessive. With the belt installed the shaft cannot be moved as easily. All other idlers and components of the belt system seem to be fine.

Does anyone know how much endplay the power steering shaft should have?
Has anyone rebuilt an '04-'08 PS pump? If so can the endplay be adjusted?
