Front Wheel Grinding...

2005 F-150 4x4, 144K miles, all factory components.

Today I noticed that when the truck has been sitting, upon initial start off I can hear a terrible grinding sound from the front left wheel. As soon as a hit the brakes one time the noise goes away. It will not return until the truck has sat for a while again.

So, wheel bearings? Something else? I drove the truck around 50 miles in four wheel drive this week with the snow, could that have had something to do with it? I am trying to get a video to load now.

Thanks!

Well, after buying a new hub assembly and installing it, I came to find that a brake caliper bracket bolt was missing. It was the top bolt, so it only caused the caliper to make contact with the wheel in reverse. I will be picking up a new bolt set tomorrow and also happent to now have a fresh hub and bearings on one side.

DUH!
