04-08 winch mount

hello again everyone. I have a 06 lariat 4x4. i would like to get a hiiden winch mount. i am aware that warn makes one for 04-05 models but not 06-08 models. the reason being is that the frames on the two are slightly different but are they really different enough for the winch mount on one to work but not the other? Has anyone made the mount from the 04-05 work on the 06-08? thanks in advance everyone.

It's not the frames that differ, but the bumpers. There is too small of an opening in the lower bumper grille to be able to work the fairlead...

The Warn hidden winch system utilized a short spool winch, meaning that you have half as much cable on the spool as you would a normal winch. NOT a good plan...

I would suggest getting a front hitch and multimount setup, or just get a brush guard / winch mount on the truck. If you don't mind a slightly chunky ish but less so than a brush guard, Westin makes a winch mount / bull bar for the '06 - '08 that might work for you as it sounds like you are trying to minimize the look of a winch...

If your truck is body lifted, you can fit a winch mount plate / winch behind the bumper, and route the fairlead through, but if you aren't body lifted, the winch will run into the bumper brackets and tranny cooler brackets. I know from first hand experience...

I have an Iron Bull bumper and a Super Winch 12.5. I rotated the Winch spool lock to the top with the installation. The winch is accessible and does not interfere with the transmission cooler. Seems like a hidden placement behind the stock bumper would be a bit tight and might interfere with the transmission cooler. Just something to consider.

A 12.5 is a good size, but any mount shy of a heavy duty replacement the ratings stop at 9.5K... Even then, behind the stock bumper won't fit without a body lift. I tried and utterly failed...

I would do a portable winch mount but the receiver hitches fr the 04-05 come between the space in the bumper. The 06-08 come below the plastic valance under the bumper. That's too low. I want mine between that space in the bumper. So will the receiver hitch from the earlier years fit on the older years?

Absolutely, if you swap the upper and lower bumper for the '04-'05 style... The newer bumper opening is too small.
