Replace wiper motor OR multifunction switch???

Hi everyone. Here's my situation. My wipers cannot work now, and my blinkers are working. Before it was the other way around. After I changed my battery and alternator I'm having wiper problems. Which part do I order? the wiper motor? or a multifunction switch? Please help anyone.

Neither. You do proper electrical circuit troubleshooting.

I would start by checking the grounds.

All I did was check the fuses. Where do I begin checking the grounds? Do I use that battery-like tester with 2 probes on it? I have no idea what to do here...but thanks for advise.

Perhaps you need to take it to someone who is experienced in electrical troubleshooting and who has the needed wiring diagrams for the vehicle. Without experience, equipment, and documentation you are almost blind, if you know what I mean. Just throwing parts at it is an expensive way to do it, you are better off giving the money to someone who knows what they are doing and can fix it right the first time. I'm not trying to discourage you from working on your own vehicle and learning things, but electrical issues can be a really difficult way to get your feet wet.

That's my biggest problem--we have no auto shops where we live, it is a remote village with no road access to major cities. I heavily rely on the Internet to diagnosis any problems with my truck. But you're right, electrical issues are rather difficult. I really appreciate all your input. Thanks for answering.

Okay, the first thing I'd do is order a full set of manuals for your truck. You should be able to get them on DVD on Ebay. They will be a lot cheaper than the printed manuals. Make sure they are genuine Ford. As long as you own that truck, they will be essential, especially considering your isolation.

I have great news... I was able to fix my wiper problem. I found Fuse 113, 30 amp was for controlling the wipers, when I looked at the fuses, there was none. I simply put one in, and Wallah! Gosh, it feels good to be able to see out my windshield again. I really appreciate all your help and thoughtfulness of my situation. Also, I do own a service manual which should really be called Ford's bible. take care all!
