Looking for opinions.. Keep or Sell
The Jasper is a reman. From what I was told and what I've read is its the OEM housing all new inner parts and 17 different upgrades that Ford should've incorporated form the start IE: upgraded actuator pistons and OSS. My 1st to 2nd shift is a lot firmer now. It took about 500 miles to get it broke in and for the computer to relearn everything. 3yr/100k warranty is good. The drawback to the warranty is it has to be installed by a jasper dealer.
Jeez! I'm waiting for 100k to change my fluid . . . it scares me too though. Especially cause my old Chevy spit up two 25k miles apart (the replacement was brand new, not rebuilt). And I drive my truck hard, so that makes it worse, it's a cycle!
i baby mine in terms of getting my foot into it so it will drop gears real hard. whenever i want to drive it hard i just pull my 240 out. if i ever killed that thing i could have a 60k mile half cut from japan for the price of a reman tranny for my truck lol

My advice, don't get rid of it. I sold my '07 a year and a half ago. It had everything done to it minus a supercharger. Had heads, cam, built trans, custom tunes, efans, LT's with hand built exhaust, full audio system, rims/ tires, suspension, tint, head lights, tail lights. Like I said everything done to it and I stripped it and sold it for a diesel and recently bought another one. Now don't get me wrong I love my new trucks, yet the '07 f150 was my first brand new truck and did real mods to it. Had it for 5 years and 9 months, should have kept it, yet at the time couldn't afford to keep both now I kick myself in the butt for it. One day I will buy it back and finish my plans for the truck.
i flip vehicles on the side to pay for it, and this car was only 3k. i probably have double into motor and suspension than the car is worth. but i got it all for cheap and could resell for a profit if i had to
ya this is what im afraid of happening. i love my truck but if the tranny goes...

Cheap, reliable, fast....pick two and deal with the last one as a consequence lol.
Id say keep your 05. That's what I plan on doing with my 05 for a while yet. Mine has 143k on only major issue so far has been the fuel injector deal back when the truck had around 91k on it.
I went through the factory trans, trans from "well know" builder, than finally shelled out the cash and got it done the right way first time around. All I can say is do your research and don't go cheap. I can say I really do miss my F150, had it for five years 60k miles on it, did everything I needed/wanted at the time and never planed to get rid of it. But a truck fell into my lap and I was fool not to go with it. Am I happy with the new truck? Extremely! Do I miss my F1? Terribly lol Live and learn

Deacon, I'd like to do stuff like that at some point. I like tinkering around with different things, snatching stuff up when I come across a deal. My neighbor's done that a few times, flipped a couple for $500 profits here and there.
its fun and it pays for all my hobbies. ive had a couple dozen cars in the past few years and probably bought twice as many sets of wheels/tires. its just a fun, easy way to make a little money. start out buying things like tires or wheels that you wouldnt mind keeping if they dont sell right away (which can also turn bad because then youll keep everything haha)
You can get it with the XLT, but not on the FX4. Agree with you though on the limited slips.
