I'd keep it till the doors fall off. I wanted to get a 2014 but I changed jobs and I don't want to rack up a lot of miles on a brand new truck. If you don't owe anything on the truck repairs don't hurt that bad.

How many times do U go the repair shop a year and make a payment like the monthly payment on the new F150. Keep UR old one maintained If U love it.

I would definitely have issues with keeping everything . . . I'd come around eventually though, or so I hope! I've bought a few things on occasion because I thought I could turn them around for a profit. Some I've sold, some I haven't haha

It was just under 3k out the door. I could've found something cheaper, however I'm keeping the truck since I have no payments and figured what the hell get something good. The ford dealer I originally took it to also recommended jasper he said "get a jasper the oem isn't working out for you"

My truck is alive and well again. Seems to be back to normal if not better. Replaced an ate up fly wheel also.

I had a guy that I trusted rebuild it and install it. Out the door it was $1600. I think with all of the discussion on here and a lot of hard thinking I have decided I'm going to keep her for quite a few more years.

Let the fun begin!

Where do these cheap transmissions come from? That's such a good price! Even if it isn't as good as a Jasper, etc., it's probably worth more than half

I was told the price of the Jasper alone is $2100. (This is the price Ford quoted me for an OEM transmission) I would without a doubt go with the Jasper over the Ford. So for Jasper $2100 plus labor. The guy that rebuilt my transmission is from Mt. Vernon, IL. He was very familiar with the transmission in our truck and came highly recommended. He said he would beef it up better than when I started and told me he would do a personal one year warranty on his work. For $1600 I had the shop remove/install the transmission plus a fluid exchange and new filter. (Note the shop was external of the rebuilder)

I am more than happy with the rebuild. The transmission seems very firm and smooth. After driving my moms BMW for 2 weeks as a loaner I forgot how much I love driving this truck.

Well congrats on that! Maybe it's because I'm so close to the city and shops tend to either be ghetto or overpriced. I'd love to find a smaller place to do work for less, especially something big like a trans
